Its the start of Autism acceptance week . Our family have lived the world of autism for over 30 years and have seen so many changes and experienced so much both good yet so much bad stuff.
I am proud of all my 3 have achieved even though I get grumpy and tired a lot these days. It's not them it's the 'system '.
Right now unless you also have a learning disability there is still very little in the way of support especially for adults. Difficulties in mental health are not treated as a separate problem and help is hard to find.
Reasonable adjustments are still having to be fought for in healthcare.
Social housing remains a battlefield to navigate and get what you can for your needs.
Residential placements are still far from perfect as places for people with just an autism diagnosis alone are rare yet so so needed. It's a 'problem' if you don't also have a LD as you don't fall under may providers 'remit' . Many people still end up in hospitals for long periods.
There's still desires to make people who are Autistic adapt and fit in with what others deem as 'the norm or the right way '.
This causes masking and then Mental health problems.
Parents are accused of interfering or enabling when all they want to do is look after their child like any other parent would. 🙄
Yet , CHANGES are occurring . They occurr through the sheer determination and fighting back from people like my 3 adult children pictured here. Over the past few years they have started to write their own complaints. They have sat in on meetings and in turn have made huge changes for those of you with young children beginning on this journey. You see I've discovered that their own voice makes more of a difference than just mine.
We have changed awareness and local authority policies . We have involved MP's and they have responded.
Some people still don't listen and some professionals are still locked in the dark ages or so it appears sometimes.
I've seen people leave their posts when they have seen the reality and experienced the frustration of 'red tape' and ignorance.
Yet you bounce back and you keep forging ahead.
So encourage your special ones and anyone you know to stand up and fight in this crazy world.
Don't ever be put down or made to feel you should step away. Would they do it with their own children? I doubt it.
Symbols are used everywhere nowadays for everything. To think all those using symbols now think of us spiritual folk as weird when we use them all the times. Ancients used symbols before letters.
Here is my go to.....
The infinity symbol is precious. The gold is specific to Autistic people. It is also a very high vibrational spiritual colour. I use this in my healing sessions.
The colour Gold is associated with the sun, its warmth and worth. It stands for vitality and inspiration. In many old cultures Gold was the most precious colour that represented sun gods and the highest points of spiritual development.
It increases self-worth and is an excellent healing tool and meditation colour. Gold fills the damaged parts of the energetic layers and heals them. It is a colour i use in the Reiki form of psychic surgery. Used in meditation the colour Gold helps guard against fear and the loss of self-confidence. It is the colour of protection.
It is the colour of the phoenix and is the feathers of birds that pass on. I've actually seen this for myself.
Gold is the colour of our auric field which holds all the experiences and memories of our past lives.
So why infinity?
infinity

1.
the state or quality of being infinite.
"the infinity of space"
The Maori use the word Takiwatanga” is the Maori word for autism and it means “In their own time and space”.
Life is infinite. Our time on earth may be finite but our souls exist forever.
Someone said to me "there are diets to cure Autism".
I corrected them with tact and kindness.
No need to cure an Autistic person. There is a need to allow them the same help as anyone without Autism who develop other health and wellbeing conditions. In 2022 people still put everything down to Autism. It's
To all you Autistic people stand proud. Give up saying "I have Autism " like it's a disease. Say "I am Autistic ". You are not a puzzle piece , you are human but you have a super power that confuses people with not quite so 'wired' brains.
Today and always....to infinity and beyond.
Yes I know its from Toy Story most Autistics have watched a million times, but its kinda perfect.
Happy Autistic people day 💛💛💛
