Our Summer Competition has started !

Meet "Gnomie" (yes we know its hardly original, but Part 1 of our challenge is for our Young People to give Gnomie a more fitting name)

Part 2 is that each week a different house will be taking part in
providing us with photographs from their adventures together (so get ready for )

Here is Gnomie on his way to rugby training at Stafford Rugby Club.

We are looking forward to some more Scrum-believable snapshots over the Summer!

Cove Care is committed to delivering the highest quality of care to children and young people with complex mental health, emotional and behavioural needs.

We do this across a range of specialist care environments: in community residential homes for under-18 year-olds and in transitions homes for the 16-25 year old age group

When we prepare to welcome a new young person into any of our houses, extra care is made to make their immediate surroundings inviting, comfortable and full of things that they enjoy.

We wish this young person a safe and smooth transition into their new environment as they start their recovery journey.

We love acknowledging and celebrating the talents of our young people, here are some examples of drawings from one of our budding artists !

Drawing can offer therapeutic benefits such as stress relief, emotional expression, and improved mindfulness.

The act of creating art can shift focus away from negative thoughts, providing a sense of control and calm.

Drawing encourages mindfulness, helping individuals stay present and aware of their thoughts and feelings. It can reduce chaotic response to stress and promote emotional regulation.

Now that the sun is finally out, one of our Young People has been busy in the garden.

Gardening can relieve stress and reduce negative thoughts and feelings.

Concentrating on planting and tending to flowers can also help you to stay present and focused on the task at hand.

Being out in the garden in the sunshine can help boost serotonin and vitamin D production, naturally improving mood and mental health.

How beautiful do these flowers look !

This year, one of our Registered Managers completed their CPI Instructors Course, enabling them to train and certify our team members.

As part of the ongoing staff development programme at Cove Care the two-day course helps to empower our staff to create safe, person-centred, trauma informed environments, whilst teaching them the skills to identify, prevent and de-escalate crises in the workplace.

Making delicious treats can trigger a sense of achievement and boost self-esteem as we witness the transformation of raw ingredients.

The rhythmic and repetitive actions involved such as mixing and measuring can have a soothing effect on the mind and
chocolate consumption has been shown to boost the production of serotonin and dopamine (feel-good neurotransmitters).

It’s like giving your brain a big, warm hug from the inside. As if we needed any excuse! ….

Whether you love birthdays or prefer to keep them quiet, understanding their impact on mental health can help transform the way you approach your special day and, more importantly, how you perceive yourself.

Honouring your birthday can reinforce self-worth, boost gratitude, and promote a positive outlook on life.

One of our houses has taken this Halloween malarkey very seriously! It looks like they are having a 'Ghastly' time!

Mwa ha ha harrrrr! ☠️ 🍬 🏚️ 👻 🫣 👺 💀

Joy doesn’t have to come from big gestures or monumental days; it can come from little moments, too. It’s important to have things that we find pleasurable incorporated into our lives throughout the year.

For many people, one of those pleasures is the simple act of decorating for Halloween.

A 2020 study found that the colour orange ― often seen in popular decorations like pumpkins, autumn leaves and Halloween string lights ― is more associated with joy and overall positive feelings. So, those pumpkins on your table may actually make you happier when you catch a glimpse of them.
