One of our Young People was recently rewarded with crafting kits of their choice for having 5 positive days. They also baked a delicious cake !

Rewards are important as they can help keep you going towards reaching a longer term goal. They can make people feel appreciated and acknowledged for their efforts, so that they can see themselves as being valued and seen.

The young person has 2 pet guinea pigs which they care for.

Caring for pets can significantly impact mental health. Pets provide companionship, reduce stress, and offer emotional support.

As part of the ongoing staff development programme at Cove Care our team members complete a two-day CPI course that helps to empower them to create safe, person-centred, trauma informed environments, whilst teaching them the skills to identify, prevent and de-escalate crises in the workplace.

Congratulations to our August attendees !

One of our Young People recently celebrated an important birthday by taking a trip to Dublin (via Liverpool).

Birthdays are about celebrating the growth of your strength, and the continuation of your story. Each year brings new adventures, opportunities and experiences and every step you take toward self-awareness is a victory worth celebrating !

Look out for the next installment (where an extra little VIP tagged along for the ride )

One of our Young People enjoyed a visit to The National Space Centre.

Having new experiences is beneficial for improving brain function and boosting your mental health. Travel has been linked to stress reduction and can alleviate symptoms of anxiety and depression.

Visits to places like The National Space Centre, which is both fun and educational, can have a positive impact on mental wellbeing.

Learning not only builds confidence, but also independence and emotional resilience. The process of acquiring new skills and knowledge engages the brain in ways that can improve mood, cognitive function and increase life satisfaction.

This month one of our houses celebrated Jamaica Independence Day with their Young Person.

Reconnecting with your heritage can provide benefits to your mental well-being.

Embracing your heritage is not only about traditions and nostalgia, but it is an essential part of psychological health that nurtures a sense of belonging, identity and emotional resilience

Our Summer Competition has started !

Meet "Gnomie" (yes we know its hardly original, but Part 1 of our challenge is for our Young People to give Gnomie a more fitting name)

Part 2 is that each week a different house will be taking part in
providing us with photographs from their adventures together (so get ready for )

Here is Gnomie on his way to rugby training at Stafford Rugby Club.

We are looking forward to some more Scrum-believable snapshots over the Summer!

Cove Care is committed to delivering the highest quality of care to children and young people with complex mental health, emotional and behavioural needs.

We do this across a range of specialist care environments: in community residential homes for under-18 year-olds and in transitions homes for the 16-25 year old age group

When we prepare to welcome a new young person into any of our houses, extra care is made to make their immediate surroundings inviting, comfortable and full of things that they enjoy.

We wish this young person a safe and smooth transition into their new environment as they start their recovery journey.

We love acknowledging and celebrating the talents of our young people, here are some examples of drawings from one of our budding artists !

Drawing can offer therapeutic benefits such as stress relief, emotional expression, and improved mindfulness.

The act of creating art can shift focus away from negative thoughts, providing a sense of control and calm.

Drawing encourages mindfulness, helping individuals stay present and aware of their thoughts and feelings. It can reduce chaotic response to stress and promote emotional regulation.

This year, one of our Registered Managers completed their CPI Instructors Course, enabling them to train and certify our team members.

As part of the ongoing staff development programme at Cove Care the two-day course helps to empower our staff to create safe, person-centred, trauma informed environments, whilst teaching them the skills to identify, prevent and de-escalate crises in the workplace.
