University of Wolverhampton Student Counselling Services Counselling, Student and Staff Support, Promoting Positive Mental Health and Well-being amongst Students and Staff of the University of Wolverhampton

We are a department in the Office of the Dean of Students in the University of Wolverhampton which offers a face-to-face Counselling Service via appointments and drop-ins and online counselling to students of the University. We also offer workshops and groups on topics of interest to students, e.g. developing self-confidence and managing stress, and we have plenty of self-help resources to look at online and in paper format.

8-week Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) course for students: 4pm – 6pm on Wednesday 31/1/2017 – 21/3/2017 at City Campus in the Chaplaincy.

It is not a religion but a way of being which once embraced helps you in the way that you live. It is practised by people of different faith traditions and none. Mindfulness is a simple form of meditation that has its roots in the ancient Buddhist practise of Vipassana or Insight Meditation.

Please read the information below for guidance on support available to you over the Summer break:
Students who are currently accessing our service or on the existing waiting list will continue to be offered appointments as usual, however, the Counselling Service is unable to offer appointments to other students during this period and we apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

During the summer, we will be closed for 2 weeks in August, during which time we will not be reading or responding to emails.

The service will re-open fully in September (including drop-ins).

If you:
- Would like to access counselling in September, please contact the service for an appointment on 01902 322 572 or by email at the start of the new semester
- Are a third year student or graduating this September, you unfortunately will no longer be able to access the service, please refer to your GP (or below) for support
- Are taking a leave of absence and plan to return to the University please do contact us in September.
- Are applying for Extenuating Circumstances, please read our service guidelines:

Our Story

We were formerly a department in the Office of the Dean of Students in the University of Wolverhampton offering a face-to-face and online Counselling Service via appointments and drop-ins for students of the University. We also offer workshops and groups on topics of interest to students and staff e.g. developing self-confidence, managing stress, supporting students in distress and we have plenty of self-help resources to look at online and in paper format.

We are currently undergoing a restructure and will known as part of Student Support and Wellbeing under the new Directorate...... watch this space for more developments over the coming months.......
