Hyperpigmentation is one of the most challenging skin conditions to treat, and can be a cause of significant distress for those affected. Even with the right tools and commitment, meaningful results take time and patience.
🌟 That’s why I want to celebrate this early win for one of my lovely patients in her late 50s.
Despite 18 months of diligently using two pigmentation serums from a well-known brand, and undergoing chemical peels under the supervision of a Nurse, she experienced minimal improvement. Instead, her skin became increasingly sore, sensitised, tight, and excessively oily.
At her consultation with me she declared no relevant medical history, but disclosed she is suffering from severe menopausal symptoms for a number of years which are disrupting all areas of her life.
🔬 My approach is always to tackle the root cause of your problem; in this instance the first step was to heal the skin barrier, and support the body to heal from within:
🛡️ Repair the skin barrier
☀️ Reinforce the importance of SPF
🔍 Educate on lifestyle contributors to hormonal imbalance
🧠 Focus on nervous system regulation, quality sleep
🍲 Focus on nutrition
🍽️ Focus on gut-health
📚 Empower through education
Skin-health starts deeper than the surface.
📅 Just 20 days into her new three-step skincare regime, lifestyle and nutritional modifications - (before we’ve even started advanced treatments!) her skin is already showing a more even and balanced tone, and is no longer sore or tight. She is feeling calmer, and her brain fog has reduced.
There are no quick fixes; sustainable results require a well-informed and individualised approach, combined with holistic and compassionate care 💞
If you’re suffering from hyperpigmentation or other chronic skin concerns, I’d love to support you on your journey.
