*Running Injuries & Symptoms*

Running offers many benefits, but it also comes with a significant risk of injury. In fact, roughly half of all runners get hurt each year. These injuries are often due to overuse, improper training, not resting enough, or wearing the wrong training shoes.

Here are the five most common running injuries and their symptoms:

• Runner's Knee (Patellofemoral Pain Syndrome): Pain around the kneecap, often caused by misalignment or overuse.

• Iliotibial Band Syndrome: Pain on the outer side of the knee due to inflammation of the iliotibial band, a thick band of tissue that runs along the outside of the thigh.

• Plantar Fasciitis: Pain in the heel and arch of the foot, caused by inflammation of the plantar fascia, a thick band of tissue on the bottom of the foot.

• Shin Splints: Pain along the shinbone (ti bia), often due to overuse or stress on the muscles and tendons in the lower leg.

• Achilles Tendinopathy: Pain and inflammation in the Achilles tendon, which connects the calf muscles to the heel bone.

If you’re experiencing any pain from running, don’t delay! Give us a call on 01902844030 or visit the website at www.njbclinic.co.uk to find out more.

I have received this email today and it’s thanks to everybody who has sponsored me , I am just the swimmer 🏊
Thank you everyone for your kind generosity

Dear Jeremy,

Thank you for being such a superstar and helping us accelerate a cure for brain tumours by raising over £1,000. That’s enough money to fund six months of bioluminesence imaging on one of our research projects focused on glioblastomas – the deadliest form of brain tumour in adults.

This imaging is vital to the success of our research, much like you are vital to The Charity’s success as we push for progress towards a world where people affected by a brain tumour live longer, better lives.

We simply couldn’t do what we do, without your support and we wanted to once again say thank you and congratulate you on achieving such an epic fundraising milestone.

With the third heatwave of the year sweeping across the country, you may be tempted to get out over the weekend and exercise. But did you know high temperatures significantly increase the risk of sports-related injuries?

Hot weather can lead to muscle fatigue, making them less able to absorb shock and stabilise joints, thus increasing the likelihood of strains, sprains, and stress fractures. Furthermore, heat can exacerbate existing injuries by increasing inflammation and pain.

To prevent injuries whilst training in this glorious weather, make sure you stay hydrated and even consider electrolyte drinks, especially during prolonged exercise in the heat; take frequent breaks in shaded areas to allow the body to cool down; listen to your body and pay attention to signs of overheating, such as dizziness, nausea, or excessive fatigue. If these symptoms occur, stop exercising and seek medical attention; consider modifying training sessions by reducing intensity or duration, or opting for indoor activities while temperatures are extreme.

If you do suffer an injury, NJB Physiotherapy in Codsall is here to help! Contact us on 01902 844030, or visit the website at www.njbclinic.co.uk to find out more.
