What fantastic work from Cranswick's amazing workers, volunteering their time with us today! Thank you very much for your work, we appreciate it so much and hope you all enjoyed your day!

We completed a second, much bigger litter pick yesterday afternoon and picked three more bags of rubbish! That's five full bags picked over the past few days!!

We found some interesting things on the litter pick, but most common items were sweety wrappers, food packets, vapes (parts of them), tissues, batteries, tealight cases, and plastic wrappers from fresh flowers or flower food sachets.

Could batteries especially be placed in bins as they are toxic to the soil, to animals, or even children that may pick them up and put them near their mouths. Thank you!!

Yesterday we made a start on our Great British Spring Clean pledge. We had to pick around the hard-working grass cutters, so we couldn't get everything and will be back to collect some more bags of rubbish! Help us out and make sure to throw your litter in the bins provided.

We have just attended the unveiling for Mark Jones’ memorial stone on Wombwell High Street. It’s amazing to see something permanent to commemorate the life of Mark, and we’re thankful to everybody involved at Barnsley Council & others!

Remembering Mark Jones

On 6 February 1958, a charter plane crashed after refuelling in Munich. The accident claimed the lives of 23 people, including eight Manchester United players and three officials. We will never forget.

We're taking part in the RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch and you can too!

Big Garden Birdwatch is the world’s largest garden wildlife survey, helping to build a picture of how garden birds are faring. We're taking part in the cemetery to see how our numbers are, but you can take part in your garden or in a local park or greenspace. Here are all the birds you could see at the cemetery, including some for the very lucky which have been seen or heard on a very rare occasion!

It's National Squirrel Appreciation Day!

While we might not appreciate it when they tear up our carnations, we still can't resist giving them a monkey nut (though most will take two!) If you're in the cemetery today, show the squirrels some love. Be respectful, don't chase them, and bring them a handful of peanuts! 😄
