I trained in holistic massage therapy with the Bristol College of Massage and Bodywork in Bristol, becoming certified with a level 4 diploma in June 2017. Since then I have been practicing from my home-based therapy room in Easton.
While still in college, I decided I wanted to specialise in women's wellness, so I now have an additional level 3 diploma in Massage for Pregnancy, a certificate in Pregnancy Massage & Post Natal Recovery/Remedial Therapy and I completed a workshop in Women's Wellness Massage. I am now studying the Well Mother Pregnancy Massage diploma level 4 with Suzanne Yates in Bristol.
By listening to your needs, each massage is individually created to meet your precise needs at the time of your appointment, so no two massages will be identical. To achieve this, I employ a range of techniques including Swedish, Ayurvedic, Lomi Lomi, deep tissue and remedial therapies. I work mainly using a hands-free technique, which offers an increased level of relaxation, while providing the most nurturing of massages. I am also trained to provide thermal stone therapy.
Should you choose to work with me throughout your pregnancy, together we will develop the sessions around your changing requirements, practice breath work and visualisations, as well as the choice of having one or two sessions with your birth partner where we will look at acupressure and pain control techniques to assist you during labour and the birthing process.
The postnatal period is an important time to think about self-care. Your body has been through massive changes, and still is as you breastfeed (if you are able), lift and carry older children, push buggies, etc. Massage may help relieve some of the holding patterns developed within your muscles as your body changed shape during pregnancy. I can also provide you with some techniques to take home with you to help in between massage appointments.
While women and women’s wellness is my main focus, my work can be tailored to suit men who’s health and wellbeing is just as important. It’s great to see more men becoming aware of their bodies and focusing more on self-care.
I didn’t know ‘work’ could be so enjoyable until I became a massage therapist.
