Here at EAST we like a rhyme,
To help us remember at the time,
What it is that should be done,
When an emergency has begun!

Recognising symptoms and Knowing what to do literally saves lives! So remember...

If the casualty is pale,
Raise the tail!

If the casualty is red,
Raise the head!

If the casualty is blue,
You've got work to do!

Epilepsy is a common condition that affects the brain and causes frequent seizures.

Seizures are bursts of electrical activity in the brain that temporarily affect how it works. They can cause a wide range of symptoms.
Epilepsy can start at any age, but usually starts either in childhood or in people over 60.

Seizures can affect people in different ways, depending on which part of the brain is involved.

Possible symptoms include:

uncontrollable jerking and shaking, called a "fit"

losing awareness and staring blankly into space

becoming stiff

strange sensations, such as a "rising" feeling in the tummy, unusual smells or tastes, and a tingling feeling in your arms or legs

collapsing

Sometimes you might pass out and not remember what happened.

This short video shows the simple steps to support someone during and after they've had a seizure.

Reminiscing about that time our lead trainer Liz got followed for 15 minutes and then pulled over by Suffolk Police!

Obviously she had a stowaway from a previous Paediatric First Aid course and the officers were simply concerned she had an unrestrained child in her boot. 🤣

If you see him around East Anglia give us a wave 👋

The heart is a muscular organ about the size of a fist, located just behind and slightly left of the breastbone. The heart pumps blood through the network of arteries and veins called the cardiovascular system.

Also.....

When a person is in love, they might trip up on words, sweat uncontrollably, and have heart palpitations. That flutter in your heart when you see someone might not be love at first sight, but it certainly is some biochemistry action.

Our body is amazing 🥰 our heart is at the centre of everything we do ❤
