Last weekend I went to the amazing Gone Wild Festival in Devon and on a few occasions had members of the public ask me about my RADLD - Raising Awareness of Developmental Language Disorder hoody I wearing.

It reminded me that we are less than 2 months away from DLD Day which is Friday 17th October 2025 this year!

I’ve only got a few spaces left in this small, supportive group where learning and discussion thrive.

I am opening my books for 3 speech and language therapists or speech and language therapy assistants for supervision!

Choosing a supervisor can be a daunting prospect - we've all had supervisors who we click with and those who we don't. That's human nature and that's okay!

I offer a warm, reflective space for speech and language therapists and assistants to explore their practice, gain clarity, and grow with confidence. To make sure we fit I provide all prospective supervisee's a free 20 minute video call so we can get to know each other.

Like everyone I try my best to keep up to date in evidence-based frameworks, but I understand that is hard with working and general day to day life. I will do my best offer support you to reflect within this evidence base and where appropriate through my own experiences.

My aim is for supervision to be collaborative, compassionate, and tailored to your evolving needs; whether you're newly qualified, experienced, or stepping into independent practice. Whether you need a 50 minute offload or to delve deep into a case which has you puzzled, a discussion around a bit of CPD you have read, support with writing a proposal or report, or just a general discussion around your practice I am here to help you along the way. I can't promise I will have an answer, but I will do my upmost to support you to reflect on any given situation and come to the best next step for you.

If you would like to book a 20 minute free video call with me to discuss access to my services then please go to www.treetops-slt.co.uk/supervision

Support for people with DLD can take many forms. Some of it is delivered by professionals, such as Speech Therapists, but we are keen to emphasize that EVERYONE has a role to play: teachers, families, friends and colleagues/other students.

That's why we have created a whole set of download resources for schools and workplaces.

These are available on the RADLD website. School: https://radld.org/dld-education-strategies/ Workplace: https://radld.org/dld-workplace-strategies/. They include handout summaries to share.

What has helped you and your family members with DLD?

Let's build a better future for every person with DLD including Stephanie and her family.

is Friday October 18th. The theme is 'Speak up for DLD' as we want more people to know about DLD. Join us to amplify the voices of this hidden need.

NOTE: DLD stands for Developmental Language Disorder. It is a difficulty with understanding and using spoken words and sentences. It has a neurodevelopmental basis, so people are born with it and don't 'just grow out of it', and it is not caused by their parents not talking to them. It impacts on learning, literacy, relationships and employment. Every person with DLD is different. Awareness is fundamental as with identification and support, people with DLD can thrive and lead the lives they want to. Join us to build a better word for all with DLD and their families. radld.org
