I have a new sticker in my window and some people are asking…
“What does this mean??”
Chiropractic is a regulated profession in the UK and this sticker shows that I am registered and regulated by our governing body - The General Chiropractic Council or GCC.
The GCC is there to protect you, members of the public to come and be a patient at my clinic. Here are some facts on how I got (and keep) my registration:
⸻
✅ 1. I am legally qualified
To be on the GCC register, a chiropractor must:
• Complete an approved chiropractic degree
• Meet strict professional standards
• Be fit to practise safely
👉 In the UK, it’s illegal to call yourself a chiropractor without being GCC registered.
⸻
🛡️ 2. You are protected by regulation
The GCC exists to protect patients, not chiropractors. That means:
• Practitioners must follow a code of conduct
• I am held accountable for my actions
• You can make a formal complaint if something goes wrong
⸻
📚 3. I must stay up to date
Registered chiropractors are required to:
• Do continuing professional development (CPD) - a minimum of 30 hours
• Keep their knowledge and skills current
• Renew their registration regularly every 12 months
⸻
⚖️ 4. There’s a disciplinary system
If a chiropractor behaves unprofessionally or unsafely:
• The GCC can investigate
• They can suspend or remove them from the register
⸻
🔍 5. You can check me or any other chiropractor yourself
The GCC provides a public register where you can:
• Verify a chiropractor is actually a chiropractor
• See if they have any restrictions on their practice
• Confirm the practitioner meets regulatory standards
⸻
🧠 Bottom line
Being GCC registered means:
You’re dealing with a properly trained, legally recognised, and regulated professional. That is safe and competent in what they do.
Want to get booked in? I would love to share chiropractic with you! ❤️🩻
