A Little Bit About Me
It’s been a long time since I first shared the story behind Secret Sauna — how and why it was born. Since then, so much has changed. There are now more than seven saunas within just a few miles of each other, so I wanted to open my heart and tell you what makes mine different.
This isn’t just a business to me. It’s my everything — the way I provide for my family and the path that brought me back to life. It was started with the small amount of money my grandfather left me when he passed. He raised me, and losing him broke something deep inside. I wanted to honour him by creating something beautiful in this tiny corner of North Devon that I love so much. On the anniversary of his death, we lit the sauna for the very first time. In many ways, it saved my life.
From the age of 22, I lost myself completely. I was already carrying so much, and his loss knocked me to my knees. For six long years I worked hard to rewire my mind, heal my heart, and learn to love myself again. To those who walked beside me through that darkness — thank you. You know who you are.
Just before the sauna idea came to me, I could barely get out of bed. Anyone who knows me knows I’ve always been full of energy, so feeling completely empty was heartbreaking. I couldn’t work for two years. I couldn’t even exercise. But the moment this vision entered my life, I felt Kez starting to come back. Little by little, I saw her again — smiling, strong, and even getting back in the water.
I share all of this because people usually only see the bright, smiling version of me now. They don’t see the years of struggle that came before. My own painful journey has given me the gift of truly seeing people — not just who they are today, but the heart and story they carry. I believe that’s what allows me to connect so deeply.
My biggest intention with Secret Sauna has always been this: that every single person who walks through the door feels truly welcome, safe, and cared for. I want you to leave with exactly what you need that day — whether it’s deep relaxation, a quiet reset, or a boost of energy. Because I’m the only one here, I get to know each of you from the first booking to the peaceful moments after your session. That personal connection means the world to me.
I’m so proud that my 250+ reviews all speak of the same things: the warm hugs at the door, the personal touches, the sparkling cleanliness, and the breathtaking views. It tells me I’m doing what I set out to do — creating something honest and full of heart.
I’ll be truthful with you: seeing so many other saunas in such a small area does feel daunting at times. But I have big, beautiful dreams for Secret Sauna. They won’t happen overnight — they’re growing slowly and naturally, just like the wild landscapes around us. You might not notice the changes right away, but they’re coming… making everything a little warmer, brighter, and more special with time.
