Sciatica - more than a pain in the butt!
This week we will talk about sciatica.

Sciatica is a condition characterized by pain that radiates down the leg from the lower back, often due to compression or irritation of the sciatic nerve. The sciatic nerve is a large nerve that runs from the lower back, through the buttock and down the leg, ultimately to the foot.
Symptoms vary with the individual but can be pain down thigh, into calf & foot with associated odd symptoms such as tingling or numbness, even a feeling of a stone in your shoe when there is nothing. Back pain can accompany sciatica but generally the leg pain overtakes the back pain in severity.
I’m my experience of 28 years as a chiropractor I can say that response to treatment can vary with the individual & it generally takes a few sessions to see improvement in some cases. Often inflammation is present & this can exacerbate the healing time.
