A few shots from Monday on the drone and then tonight.
I wanted to mow the paths yesterday but my delightful hayfever made that impossible….so I’m very grateful to Sophia who after school offered to mow the paths for me 🤗🙏 Thank you Sophia ❤️

The carpark hedge is showing lots of new growth and even the coppiced trees are growing like mad!

We’ve got trees self seeding all over the place - plenty oaks and maple too!

What was the clearing in the woods is soon going to look magnificent 🌸🌸🌸🌸

This afternoon we welcomed Pat to her forever home ☀️

A glorious afternoon with blue skies and plenty of birdsong, including a hello or two from the neighbouring woodpecker!

Pat had made her decision to rest at Penlow back in 2016. With cremation being her preference; she decided to have a full plot and her own wild cherry tree 🍒

Over the years Pat has been able to visit and see photos of the cherry tree growing away and bearing fruit.

With a matter of weeks since the trees were coppiced - they are showing good signs of re-growth already 🌳

I wonder how much they will grow in their first year - the result could be surprising!

This really only feels like last year! We’ve had a few upgrades since these gorgeous photos were taken but Penlow really remains the same.

Love and care taken always and the trust you place in your funeral directors doesn’t end with them, they entrust your loved ones with us and so do you.

How many of you have heard of the Merlin Bird ID app?

I was introduced to it recently by two different Friends of Penlow, I’m finding it thoroughly fascinating 🐦

Yesterday the girls helped me to set some of our older trees free from their shelters. These are the birds that it picked up in the half an hour it was recording for.

We aren’t finished yet - who knows what bird song we will be treated to next time 🙂

A few shots from my afternoon walk down to Penlow, the bees were buzzing, the wild cherry trees are starting to blossom, the butterflies are fluttering and the brightly coloured brimstones are still escaping my photos when I spot them in the woods! 🦋

Every year The Association of Natural Burial Grounds (ANBG), which is run by the Natural Death Centre Charity, hold The People’s Awards to recognise and celebrate excellent service. These awards are all about the people involved and the level of compassionate service they provide to families.

In this week’s Blog, we loved hearing from Rosie Inman-Cook from the Natural Death Centre and Sheridon Rosser from Atlantic Rest Natural Burial about the ethos behind these awards.
