Today we welcomed Derek, lovingly known of course as Del 💚

We may have had a shower of rain to start with; but you soon warmed us all, with the stories of your life and the sun that you shone on our backs ☀️

Welcome to your new wildflower filled home Del 🌼 🌷🌻🌹

Here are a few drone shots from Sunday afternoon, it will look different again now; as the long grass has been cut for hay, by a local farmer - thank you 🤩

We’ve had a busy couple of days finishing up hair cuts for our residents in the wildflower and woodland areas ✂️

Next job will be to get the yellow rattle that we harvested from the meadow area; sown to reduce the amount of grass there next year!

Looking forward to the wildflowers that it could bring 🌹🌷🌼🌸🌻🪻

Today’s welcome is for Chris; not only did his nearest and dearest wish him well on his way, but the painted lady butterflies and the bees welcomed him too - whilst they revelled in the delight of his lovely flowers 🐝

Every burial is unique, that always shines through - no matter the weather!

Welcome to your new home Chris, I hope your next adventure is a good one 💙

Please refrain from bringing power tools to Penlow. It is not necessary for families to tend to graves and strim them - this is against the rules and does not help to increase the biodiversity of the wildflowers.

There will be times throughout the year when the grasses are longer around peoples graves. This is natural and is what you can expect at Penlow. This has been explained before your choice was made for your loved one to rest here.

We do our best to maintain paths to all graves and will always offer to guide you to a grave if you struggle to locate it - it only takes a phone call to do this.

We have to work methodically with our grass cutting scheme. This will usually be in blocks of full burial grids (12m x 12m) this means a good weather window before and during to do this. Today we had intended to cut 2 &1/2 grids in the woodland area which is approximately 360m2. This as you can imagine takes several hours and people power.

We now have to increase that workload today to 4 &1/2 grids (approx 648m2) to hide the fact that a visitor has this morning strimmed a grave - because if visitors see this, they may think this is okay to do the same and exacerbate the problem. We treat everyone the same at Penlow - no one grave is tended too above another, but there is a system and it requires your patience and understanding.

This isn’t a message asking for help or sympathy- we would just like people to understand that what they may feel is a good act, really is not helpful.

Thank you.
