To overcome a fear, at some point you will need to face the fear. Prolonged avoidance only provides temporary relief, and the underlying issue persists.

Last week, I was assisting a client with panic disorder, a condition characterised by an intense fear of experiencing physical feelings of anxiety (panicking about panicking).

A triggering sensation can be a feeling hot and sweaty. Through collaborative efforts, we gradually assessed and confronted the client’s fears, employing techniques such as fear grading and exposure therapy. Notably, we successfully held our appointment with the heating turned up and a fan blowing hot air!!
This achievement represents a significant milestone in the client’s journey towards transforming their lives.

If you are over 18 years old and need support for your mental health, join us at one of our drop in crisis cafes.

Run by a mental health expert and a Mind support worker, they can offer support and safety if you, or someone you care about is in need. This safe space offers a listening ear and the team have the ability to help signpost and refer you to other support services if you need it.

The cafes are based in different locations around our county, and you can find a timetable of sessions online. However, it is important you double check the website before you turn up, just in case there has been a change to provision.

TALKING



One of the first and most impactful things a person could do to ease anxiety is to talk about it.

• You are not weird
• You are not going mad
• You are not broken
• You are not cracking up
• You can get help
• You are not alone......
You are feeling the effects of an emotion. Learn about it, gain some tools, strategies and help. It is possible to make massive improvements with support.

The British Association for Behavioural & Cognitive Psychotherapies Register (which I am listed on and accredited with), has now been accredited itself by the PSA.
This is great news as yet again it helps to ensure you find with confidence a genuinely qualified, regulated, experienced, certified professional.

If you are seeking Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and the ‘therapist’ or counsellor isn’t accredited and registered with the BABCP - there is a very good reason.

Please ensure you receive the actual treatment being offered ‘CBT’ and you get the results you are paying for.

We are not all equal. We are not all the same and sadly some people offer skills they do not have. This is a way of at least trying to screen them out 🙏
