Meet Kimberley, one of our friendly and knowledgeable Breastfeeding Support Workers 💜

Kimberley and the team offer invaluable guidance to parents throughout their breastfeeding journey. We asked Kimberley:

Why do you find your role rewarding?
➡ I find my role rewarding because of my own passion for breastfeeding. It’s a real privilege to walk alongside families on their feeding journey — to see them grow in confidence and find their support network to carry them through.

What message would you give to someone at the start of their breastfeeding journey?
➡ It’s absolutely okay to ask for help every step of the way — that’s what we’re here for. There’s a lot of support available, and we’ll be right there to guide you through it.

What would you say to someone who is struggling with breastfeeding?
➡ With the right support, it will get better. We’re not meant to do this alone, our help can make all the difference.
..There is a saying that was shared a lot in our virtual group, and that’s ‘never give up on a bad day’ 💜

As draws to a close, we’re delighted to share an update from Sue Harris, Director of Strategy and Partnerships and our Baby-Friendly Guardian 🌿👶💙

“As the Baby-Friendly Guardian, I’m proud to share that we are working towards UNICEF Baby-Friendly Accreditation. This is a significant step in our commitment to providing the highest standard of care and support for families, ensuring that every baby has the best possible start in life.

Our journey toward accreditation reflects the dedication of our teams and our shared belief in evidence-based, compassionate care. It’s about creating a culture where families feel informed, supported, and empowered - whatever their feeding choices.

I’m also really excited to be celebrating World Breastfeeding Week, a fantastic opportunity to recognise the importance of breastfeeding and to thank all our staff who work tirelessly to support families every day.

Together, we’re building a baby-friendly future across Herefordshire and Worcestershire.”

Rounding off our ‘Meet the Team’ introductions for World Breastfeeding Week is Jodie, our Infant Feeding Support Worker 💜

You may have met Jodie at one of our breastfeeding support groups — she’s here with a reassuring smile and lots of experience, championing families every step of the way 🤱

Why do you find your role rewarding?
➡ Seeing families enjoy breastfeeding following the support they have received and knowing I have made a difference makes me so happy.

What message would you give to someone at the start of their breastfeeding journey?
➡ Breastfeeding is a very rewarding job, but it isn't always easy, and it really does take a village to raise a baby. Please never feel worried to ask for help, let me hold your hand and be your village. Together we can get through anything.

What would you say to someone who is struggling with breastfeeding?
➡ Don't suffer in silence, don't try to grin and bear it, because it will become too heavy very quickly. Reach out for help. I am so happy to support you in achieving your goal.
