This morning, we enjoyed a visit to the local football club for a cup of tea and a chat.

📚 In the afternoon we were delighted to welcome local school children who came along to read their favourite books to our residents. It truly brightened everyone’s day and brought plenty of smiles.

The combination of community, conversation, and storytelling is wonderful for keeping spirits high and helping residents feel connected to the wider community. 💛

Our staff also joined in the World Book Day fun by dressing up! We had Mickey Mouse, Matilda, Miss Trunchbull, a jockey and even Rambo walking around the home, which brought lots of laughter and smiles to residents and staff alike.

Sometimes, the most important part of dementia care isn’t what you do — it’s how you do it.

When Billie’s father arrived at The Mill House, he was frightened and unsettled. As a family, they feared the sparkle they knew and loved had been lost.

By taking time, building trust and seeing the person behind the dementia, Deputy Manager Toni Dunn helped restore calm and connection.

“Toni has succeeded in bringing a sparkle back to dad that we feared was lost. She’s a shining light.”

At The Mill House, we believe every person is still themselves — and deserves to feel safe, understood and valued.

If you’d like to talk through care options for a loved one, we’re always here for a conversation. 💛

🌿 Thoughtfully preparing for what’s ahead.

As we look towards the months ahead, we’re quietly preparing for the next chapter at The Mill House — continuing to build on the warmth, care and sense of home we’re known for.

We’ll be sharing more soon, but for now our focus remains the same: supporting residents and families with understanding, compassion and care you can trust.

About us...

The Mill House Care Home has been owned by Joanne since 1994, and is managed by her daughter, Georgina Stone. Both Joanne and Georgina really understand the importance of integrity, continuity, security and peace of mind which they maintain by their close day to day involvement.

Joanne, who is an experienced care home proprietor, is involved with the home on a daily basis and has always had a deep commitment to the personal support, training and development of staff to meet the demands of providing a truly dedicated service.

A measure of the quality of the Home is the consistently high ratings by the various inspectorates, as well as the number of staff that remain in post for many years.
