Here’s the thing you need to know… First let’s talk about the science of aging 🧪There are many factors which contribute towards aging. Around the age of 25 we start to lose collagen and elastin from the dermal layers of our skin. The cell cycle of the cells in the skin increases in length. We therefore develop fine lines, our skin looks dull and lacklustre. So how do we turn back the clock? Well we use treatments that replenish our collagen, elastin and Hyaluronic acid stores. So that when we are 30,40,50 we have the levels of collagen and elastin of someone much younger!
1. Retinol - retinol stimulates the production of collagen and elastin. What’s amazing about this is that you can do this from your own home and is one of the cheapest ways to replenish your collagen and elastin stores!
2. Skin Boosters - this includes treatments like Profhilo, Redensity, Sunekos and Polynucleotides 🧬 They causes a ‘chemical’ trauma that stimulates fibroblasts to produce collagen and elastin. They also increase the amount of Hyaluronic acid to hydrate the skin. This process increases cell turnover for healthier looking skin!
3. Microneedling/ skin peels - both of these treatments causes a mechanical trauma which stimulates fibroblasts to produce collagen and elastin. They also exfoliate the skin, which increases cell turnover for healthier, fresher looking skin cells.
The secret that no one tells you is that all of these treatments work together to improve the quality of the skin. No one treatment will be a quick fix, you may see significant improvement with one treatment but to maintain your collagen & elastin levels means having consistently good skin care and in clinic treatments as much as possible. Wherever you are in your journey - send me a DM and we can start planning how we can restore your collagen levels!
