Continuing with mental health awareness week! The focus this year is on 'movement' from the Mental Health Foundation.

How often do we exist in our heads and forget we have a body?! βœ‹

Sometimes when our minds are racing, taking a moment to connect with and move our bodies can be really helpful. Stretch out, stand up, have a walk, dance like no one is watching! πŸ’ƒ It can really help!

I'm always reminding clients that the mind and body are linked (I've never seen a floating head- have you?!) and the traffic between them is two way.

Box breathing is a simple and effective way to reduce panic & anxiety as well as reduce feelings of being overwhelmed.

Focussing on the breathing and the way this feels in your body can help to bring your mind back to right now as opposed to racing off into the future or getting stuck in the past.

It might feel a bit weird at first as we don't typically pay much attention to how we breathe, it just happens right? But give it a try and I think you'll be surprised by just how simple and effective it is.

I use this technique regularly in sessions with clients and going about my own day-to-day.
