💙 A "Blue Light" Surprise for Our NHS Heroes!

At Woodland View, we believe that a little kindness goes a long way, especially for those who spend their days caring for others.

As part of our Random Acts of Kindness initiative, we took our Blue Light Breakfast on the road!

Earlier today, our team headed over to the Worcestershire Oncology Centre at Worcester Royal Hospital to show some love to the incredible NHS staff.

🥓 What was on the menu?

We arrived bearing gifts to fuel the frontline:

🥓 Freshly grilled bacon sandwiches (still warm!)
🥐 Buttery, flaky croissants
❤️ A whole lot of gratitude!

🏥 Why we do it
The team at the Oncology Centre does vital, life-changing work every single day. We know how busy those shifts can get, so we wanted to make sure they had a moment to pause, grab a treat, and feel appreciated by their local community.

"It was such a joy to see the smiles on the faces of the staff. A fresh breakfast is a small gesture, but it’s our way of saying a massive thank you for everything they do."

The electron gun is located at the back of the Linear Accelerator and isn't something you would usually see during radiotherapy treatment.
We were fortunate enough to get a sneaky peak during our weekly service.

Did you know?...

*The Gantry can move around a patient at 360°

*The Collimators can move to angle treatment beams to avoid irradiating healthy tissue. It contains collimating blocks and leaves, which can be adjusted to create beams of multiple shapes and sizes.

Whilst a patient is having radiotherapy treatment, radiation is omitted from either the Gantry (MV xrays) or from the KV source arm (KV xrays), which pass through the patient. An image is then detected on the opposite imaging detector to produce a digitised image of the patient.

If we are happy with the image, we then proceed to treatment.
