Looking forward to new adventures...🙌🏻
I thought we were in need of some GOOD NEWS to end the year on a high 💫 🌈
So .....
💥💥 Introducing our brand new BONHEALTH 💚 Team recruit LINDS 💥💥
I am super excited to have Linds join the team ☺️ - coming on board to support me on the NUTRITION side 🍏 from January. She was my absolute top choice 1️⃣ and I wasn’t sure she’d have the time (but I thought if you don’t ask you will never know 🤔 ....) - and so here we are - she’s signed on the dotted line 👏 and I’m made up !
Having spent 3 years together doing our Sports Science degree in Leeds she’s one of the few people who’d match my organisational side 😂 🤩. I feel she’ll enrich the programmes I offer and be an amazing support to both myself and the participants. She’s been to Jersey a couple of times where we trod the cliff paths and beaches and ate ourselves round the island 🔄 and she was my Back to Basics clubbing partner many many moons ago 🙌 🎵
So here’s a little insight into our newest member ....
Hi 🙋♀️ I’m Lindsey, and I’m 48 in the new year. I’m from the Midlands originally, and following four years living in the great city of Leeds for study, I moved to Worcester in the Midlands. I’m married and have two gorgeous girls who are 13 and 11.
🟡 When did you and Mandy first meet ?
As mentioned above, I spent four years at University in Leeds and that is where Mandy and I met. We lived in the same Halls of Residence and studied the same course, and it wasn’t too long before we realised we had a shared love of Aquatics (how can we forget those 9am Tuesday morning lectures in the 3rd year) AND house music!! Mandy left Leeds in 1994 and I stayed on for another year to do a masters. Those were the days before emails and mobile phones and we did lose contact for a while. We met again at a University reunion, and were roommates for the weekend, and we clicked straight back into place - the hallmarks of a solid friendship ❤️
🟡 How did you end up working in the world of nutrition ?
After uni I went on to study a masters in Nutritional Therapy. Once qualified I set up my own business (Tua Nutrition) and have been practising for 4 years.
🟡 What are you currently up to ?
I work as an Associate Lecturer (sessional) at Worcester University teaching on the MSc Nutritional Therapy, run my clinic and more recently, I’ve delivered a few lectures at College of Naturopathic Medicine (Birmingham) on the Naturopathic Nutrition course.
🟡 What do you love about nutrition ?
Knowledge is power! 🙅♀️ As Nutritional Therapists 🍏 we impart knowledge to our clients in a way that tailors to their individual needs. The education and guidance we provide equips our clients with lifelong knowledge 🧰 that they can carry with them at all times, empowering them to make informed choices about the food they eat.
🟡 How do you look after your own body ?
I view food as nourishment not fuel. Yes in its basic form - food is fuelling our bodies - but it is MUCH more than that. I love the added benefits that the properties of plant based foods provide, they are like hidden gems 💎 and power houses for supporting our health 🤗 . That said, I still enjoy good quality animal based protein and try to eat a range of meals throughout the week.. The gut likes variety, so I follow this principle and alternate 3-4 breakfasts so I’m not eating the same foods day in day out 💤 . I also combine aerobic 🏃♀️ and strength based exercise 🏋️♀️ with more relaxing forms of exercise like yoga and stretching 🧘♀️
🟡 What are 3 key tips for keeping yourself feeling at your very best ?
1️⃣ Eat well, which for me includes eating colourful, seasonal vegetables with every meal, and a range of grass fed/free range meats, wild fish and organic eggs throughout the week
2️⃣ Move lots, preferably outdoors - though I hold my hands up and admit it's not so easy this time of year
3️⃣ R&R - obviously sleep is the best way to rest and recuperate. Really it's important to listen to your body and mind and switch off as often as you can. Easier said than done with everything we’ve been dealt this year 🤦♀️…… if you can prioritise sleep, or kicking back with a book or film this can still be helpful 🎥 📖 💤
🟡 5 foods that ALWAYS feature in your diet ?
Eggs, avocados, walnuts, green leafy vegetables, almond/coconut milk 🥬 🥥 🥑 🥚 🥕
🟡 WHAT would you be looking for if you were going to trust your health into somebody else’s hands ?
Informed and evidence based advice 🤓 that met my specific needs, as well as working with a professional is passionate, caring and empathic 😍
🟡 How do you feel about joining the Bonhealth team ?
I am super excited and honoured that Mandy has invited me to be part of the team 🙋♀️
🟡 Do you think you will cope with Mandy's never-ending enthusiasm ? !!!
Absolutely! I share her enthusiasm and passion for the area 🤩
🟡 As you have been in Jersey 🇯🇪 three times with Mandy - what did you enjoy the most ?
It goes without saying that spending quality time with Mandy was the standout every time. However, the beaches are out of this world 🏖 and the food is divine!! 🦀 🍤 I also love the slower pace of life - everyone seems more chilled 😎 (and I can’t leave Martin out! he was always such a good host and very welcoming).
🔴 And finally Martin wants to know what your honest opinion is of scotch eggs ?
Despite the fact that there is an egg in the middle, I’m not a fan! (sorry Martin 😌 !)
.........
Can’t wait to work with you Linds. It’s gonna be fun 😉
