Why you really should have a massage now that winter is here!

Massage in not just for the summer and here are various reasons why you should have a massage in the winter months, which include:

• Reduces dry skin: With the lower humidity and cold winds, winter is the time many experience dry skin which can be uncomfortable and unattractive. Regular massage promotes your skin’s production of collagen, increasing its moisture and elasticity, in addition to the massage oils that help to keep your skin soft, supple, and hydrated.

• Improves circulation: Cold weather tends to slow down blood circulation, with your body focusing on keeping your vital organs supplied with blood. This results in increased blood pressure and reduced oxygen around the body. Regular massage enhances blood flow and body warmth, increasing the flow of oxygen around the body.

• Boosts the immune system: Massage helps stimulate the lymph nodes, part of the lymphatic system, part of your immune system which protects your body from foreign invaders such as bacteria and viruses. The lymph nodes help the white blood cells fight off infections which are more prevalent in the winter.

• Improves mental health: Winter can be a very depressing time with dark and cold days. Massage stimulates the endocrine system where hormones are created. This results in decreased cortisol levels (a stress-related hormone) and increased levels of dopamine, serotonin and endorphins (the happy hormones), which relieve stress and enhance your mood.

• Maintains fitness: Many people are less active during the winter months and develop aches and pains in their muscles and joints. Whilst having a massage is not the same as going to the gym, a massage stretches your muscles and helps to keep your joints working properly. So it is a great way to relieve those aches and pains and give you energy to make it through to the spring.

At Worcester Thai Spa 1e also offer body scrubs which remove dead skin cells from your skin and work as a natural exfoliant. This helps your skin feel soft supple and nourished and look more radiant and is the ideal accompaniment to a full body massage.

So, now that that winter nights are really drawn and the weather is cold you can still experience the warmth and peacefulness and all the winter benefits of a tropical Thai massage at Worcester Thai Spa in The Courtyard, 2 London Rd, Worcester WR5 2DL4.
