🎀 New Poster Alert – Worcestershire Breast Screening Unit 🎀

We’re pleased to share a new informational poster featuring photos of the Worcestershire Breast Screening Unit. 📸✨

The aim? To help individuals familiarise themselves with the unit before attending their appointment. For many, a first screening can feel a little daunting — so we hope these images offer reassurance and a better sense of what to expect.

🩺 Early detection saves lives — and feeling confident and informed is a great first step.

Look out for the poster in our waiting areas and community noticeboards, or speak to a member of our team if you’d like to see a copy.

⭐️ Learning Disability Week 2025 ⭐️

We have a range of easy read and picture guides to breast screening available. We also offer familiarisation visits where women with a learning disability invited for breast screening can have a look around the breast screening department or mobile screening unit and meet the mammographers who will demonstrate the mammogram machine.

Please contact the admin office on 📞 01905 760145 to request an easy read guide or to arrange a familiarisation visit.

The Community Learning Disability Teams from Herefordshire and Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust have also hosted breast awareness events in Hereford and Worcester. Both events were very well attended.

The ‘My Breasts and Me’ event was held at the Worcestershire Breast Unit in November 2024.

The ‘Can You Feel It’ event was held at The Aspire Hub in Hereford in February 2025.

These events aim to raise awareness of the risks of breast cancer and to increase the uptake of women with a learning disability attending their breast screening appointments.

We look forward to being involved with future events.
