Genealogy by Ken Family tree service, advice given. Whether you are stuck with a genealogical problem, or don't know where to start, I can help. You can add Photos.

On a non-chargeable basis I can build a family tree on Ancestry and give you full access to it, so that you can continue to build it. I am based in England, but can work on Scottish, Welsh and Northern Irish ones. I do not charge, but if you want any English certificates to be ordered, I will charge at cost (about £9.00 each). In fact i prefer to advise you on how to get the certificates, and you order and pay yourself. that way we do not need to get involved in money changing hands. I have done a lot of Scottish work too, as thats where I was born. If you want any Scottish information, I'd charge for that too, but as its all online, you'll get copies of certificates. the costs will vary, but its much cheaper than England (about £1.00 per certificate)

I can also work on US and Australian trees, but I have less experience of these. What I will do is put whatever information you have into Ancestry. I will invite you to view and edit the tree as well. To get started I just need whatever you know of your family, names, dates of birth, deaths and marriages. Everyone living is hidden (except to me and you), and I will not make the tree publicly searchable unless you ask me to.

Having just finished helping a 76 year old adoptee find his parents. I'm on the lookout for another one.

Maybe you have had a DNA test done (Ancestry preferred) and you have no idea how to interpret the results.

Maybe you(or someone you know) were adopted and are interested in finding birth parents.

Or possibly you had a child adopted and wonder how their life has gone.

Interesting use of dna testing.

Question: Is there anything I can do to help?

Answer: Yes, absolutely! There are several things that people can do to lend a hand, and with so many people receiving their DNA results, we hope they will consider uploading to GEDmatch, which is now reachable through https://genesis.gedmatch.com.

Here are a few ways our supporters can help:

🔹Completing a Direct-to-Consumer (DTC) DNA kit and uploading to https://genesis.gedmatch.com are two of the most helpful things people can do to assist our project. (NOTE: It is very important to remember that sometimes doing a DNA kit can bring surprises that some people would rather not know. Also, remember that the future of genetic genealogy is an unknown. So, take some time to consider all the angles before investing in a kit.)

🔹Creating a Family tree anywhere (i.e., Ancestry, FamilySearch, WikiTree) can also help the DDP resolve some of the intricacies of where our matches come from.

🔹Attaching a GEDcom (Family tree) to https://genesis.gedmatch.com and DNA results is also a huge help. Not just for us but for others hoping to unravel their family tree riddles!

🔹Encouraging other people who have done a DNA kit to thoughtfully consider an upload to https://genesis.gedmatch.com is also helpful.

🔹If someone is already registered as a GEDmatch user they can always consider donating for the $10 Tier 1 tools. The donation button is located at the bottom of the https://genesis.gedmatch.com page after login. We donate every month to access critical tools for our projects.

GEDmatch is a wonderful free site run by volunteers like ourselves. They do not accept advertisers so they pay their website and server costs entirely from user donations. Helping support GEDMatch and the terrific service they provide is critical to the future of the site.

🔹Taking the time to read through our DDP Facebook posts (especially our pinned post) and FAQ (on our website: www.dnadoeproject.org) is helpful because often times we have already answered many of the questions that get asked on our page or in PMs. We appreciate those users who take the time to learn about our mission, chime in, and help to educate others.

🔹Liking, sharing, tagging, and inviting friends are all ways that help us spread the message of the DNA Doe Project.

🔹We almost always have cases that need funding so that is another way to help for those inclined to contribute to the story of these Does.

Happy New Year from the DNA Doe Project! Let's hope 2019 is full of beautiful discoveries! 💗

PLEASE NOTE: Users should always research the DNA services they plan to work with. Be sure to read the terms of service or site policy at GEDmatch (and other DNA companies as well). Users should consider that even though GEDmatch was created for genealogical research, it can and has been used for other uses.
