I love this ❤️ totally resonate with this experience post-op. Every time a nurse would come to check on me, my body would shake 🫨 until they walked away again. Protecting us from harm; our bodies are amazing 🤩

Before there were words, there was sensation. Before memory had a story, the body was already listening.

Pre-verbal experience is not limited to infancy, even though it most commonly begins there. It occurs any time the nervous system is overwhelmed, unconscious, sedated, or unable to make meaning through language. The body continues to register experience even when the mind is offline.

These wordless imprints can occur during medical procedures, anesthesia, ICU stays, intubation, dental work, or childbirth, especially when fear, loss of control, or overwhelm is present. They can form during accidents, fainting, dissociation, or any moment when the system shuts down to survive. Even intense emotional experiences, grief, shock, abandonment, or sudden loss, can register pre-verbally when language collapses under the weight of the experience.

This is how a wound with no name is created. There is no story to tell, no moment the mind can point to, yet the body carries the memory through holding, vigilance, altered breath, or a nervous system that no longer fully settles. People often say, I don’t know why I feel this way. The body knows. It just learned it before words were available.

This is where bodywork becomes essential. Fascia, breath, and nervous system regulation allow us to meet these imprints without demanding explanation or recall. Healing here is not about uncovering memories; it is about offering the body a new reference point of safety. A slower pace and clear boundaries. Offering attuned touch that speaks the language the body understands.

I explore this more deeply in my book “Becoming A Body Artisan,” in the chapter A Wound With No Name, where we begin to map how preverbal experiences form across the lifespan and how skilled, compassionate touch can help the body finally release what it has been holding in silence.

Craniosacral Therapy helps reduce cortisol, our stress hormone and also activates the parasympathetic nervous system creating space for deep rest and restoration 😍

The sympathetic nervous system produces our fight-or-flight response to any perceived threat. The vagus nerves are part of the parasympathetic nervous system, which does the opposite.

I love this description of Craniosacral Therapy ❤️❤️❤️

CCST graduate shares: “A question I get asked a lot, and to be honest words are quite limiting when trying to explain how this beautiful treatment works…. But I am going to try anyway….

I could go in to quantum physics, or anatomy, or how the nervous system functions… But don’t worry I wont 😅 (stay with me here)….

I want to explain craniosacral therapy from my personal perspective, from a heart centered space ❤️…

As a practitioner, as I gently lay my hands on you during your treatment, I am attuning to you….. Like a radio dial tunes in to a certain radio station frequency, my dial is tuning in to your entire being… Every aspect of you that your being is ready to show me, I will pick up on and hold space for…

I may be feeling your physical aches and pains, points of tension in your body, your emotional state, your nervous system, your overall flow of energy, where you may feel blocked, where your energy feels free and expressive….

Your body will be speaking a thousand words, and I will be listening, deeply.

As I am present with and consciously acknowledge what I am feeling in your body and in your being, I notice changes… Ah something just released, something just opened up, oh and something just relaxed, something needs a bit more space and something is drawing me in a bit closer….

As we go deeper in to the session we often go deeper in to your being, we work through more layers and stuff you have been carrying around with you for years may begin to show itself…

And this whole entire time, I am doing very little but holding space for all of this expression of yours, by simply being deeply present with you, without judgement, without an agenda, without trying to change you….

And this is what initiates your healing… This is what allows your body to find its way back to regulation, back to calm, back to feeling grounded, back to a deeper connection with yourself…. Everything feels a bit more open, a bit lighter and you may feel like something big has shifted but you can’t quite articulate it…

& then I thank your being, for allowing me to witness you whilst you heal yourself 🫶🏼”

The organs weep the tears the eyes refuse to shed....

When we talk about health, most people focus on the physical: posture, digestion, or even stress management. But Cranio-sacral Therapy(CST) invites us to listen more deeply—to the emotional imprints held in the body’s tissues and organs.

Eastern medicine teaches that every organ resonates with specific emotions. CST helps us connect with these subtle patterns and release what’s been held beneath the surface.

Take the lungs, for example: grief and sadness can lodge here, restricting movement and vitality. In a CST session, you might feel a softening in this area—not just physically, but emotionally. The body begins to let go.

Did you know your emotions can deeply impact your organs? 👀

▪️In Chinese medicine, each organ is linked to a core emotion:
🫁 Lungs — Grief and sadness. Unprocessed grief can weaken lung Qi and interrupt the natural rhythm of release.
🫀 Heart — Joy and love. Imbalance here—too much or too little emotion—can cause inner dissonance.
⚡️ Liver — Anger and frustration. Held anger can stagnate liver Qi, affecting both emotional and physical flow.
🤒 Spleen — Worry and overthinking. Chronic worry depletes energy and can show up as fatigue or digestive issues.
⚠️ Kidneys — Fear and anxiety. Fear drains kidney Qi, reducing resilience and grounding.

In Cranio-sacral Therapy, we gently contact the body’s intelligence, offering it the chance to release what it no longer needs—physically, emotionally, and energetically.

So if you’re feeling tightness, fatigue, or imbalance, it may not just be structural. Ask yourself:
What emotion might this area be holding onto?
