If you’re pregnant and receiving care from the Ruby Team, you’re invited to our first Meet the Midwives!

Our new group’s where you can meet all the Ruby midwives who may provide your care, connect with others who’re also expecting little ones, and discuss anything that’s important to you in pregnancy, birth and beyond. Each session will have a theme to lead these conversations. And we’d love to know what you’d like our themes to be!

Please comment below, DM us if you prefer, or drop a heart on our suggestions if you like them ❤️

❤️ Ruby Team are so proud of first-year student midwife Ash who witnessed her very first birth today. She cared for the family with compassion and kindness, and supported gently throughout. Thank you for your hard work!

Students witness five unassisted vaginal births before they start to facilitate, so this first is a real milestone in Ash’s journey to becoming a practising midwife ✨

For the eagle-eyed… Yes, both midwife and student midwife are called Ash! 🤜🏼🤛🏼

Hi! 👋🏼 My name’s Sue and I’ve been a midwife for 19 years, through which I’ve seen plenty of changes. By far the best one has been the introduction of Continuity of Care. It is offering an alternative to the traditional model where we can build a supportive relationship with women and their families. It is lovely to get to know the ladies we will be looking after in labour - their worries and their fears, their hopes and their stories.

Ruby is an awesome team, but so is the whole of Worcester maternity, and I’m privileged to be part of such an excellent group of people whose understanding and respect for each other is inspiring.

I’m currently trying to learn Spanish for fun, but Duolingo is somewhat despairing of my commitment and accent! ❤️

Hi 👋🏼 My name’s Ash, I trained at the University of Worcester, and I’m the newest member of the Ruby Team.

What I love most about Continuity of Care is meeting someone exactly where they are when growing their family - listening to what they’re thinking and how they’re feeling, then providing care for the whole journey. Being welcomed into someone’s home at such an important time is a privilege. And I agree with Jo - our toddler helpers are a joy! Maybe the Ruby Team are secretly recruiting the next generation of midwives?!

My midwifery passion is advocating for more inclusive care. Since qualifying, I’ve co-authored an article on improving the language we use, presented at different universities on diversifying infant feeding support, produced a “best practice” surrogacy guide, and written a textbook chapter on caring for LGBTQ+ families experiencing pregnancy loss.

In my free time, you’ll find me at the gym failing to get hench, with my family walking our dogs, or speaking truths that sometimes rhyme on a poetry open mic! ❤️

☀️TOMORROW!

A reminder that tomorrow is the our first Meet The Midwives session! Come say hi to members of the Ruby Team who can be involved in your care at any point in pregnancy, labour and birth, and after your baby is born.

We’re asking everyone to bring one question about giving birth so we can get the conversation started!

The session is a drop-in - so don’t worry if you’re running late or need to leave early ❤️

Hi 👋🏻 My name’s Georgia. I’ve been a midwife for almost 4 years and just under 3 of those years have been spent as a Ruby midwife.

I couldn’t possibly pick a favourite part about being a continuity midwife - it is just the best! The relationships we build with families and beyond is what really makes it. I love having “returning customers” come back to me for their next pregnancies and watching their families grow is lovely.

In my spare time you’ll probably find me at the gym (sometimes with Jo throwing punches in boxercise classes!) or on holiday making the most of my annual leave!

❤️ Introducing your Ruby Team
midwives!

Hi! 👋🏼 My name’s Jo, I’ve been a midwife for three years, and I’ve been with Ruby the whole time.

I love the relationship building over the pregnancy period and seeing their smile when you attend for their birth… However I find it hard to say goodbye after the postnatal period. I love returning families who feel they are part of the Ruby family.

My favourite part of the job is our little sibling ‘helpers’ who are encouraged to get involved in their care - especially when they pull out their own doctor kits!

In my spare time, I try to keep updated with the meanings of the strange words used by my teenage sons. I love boxing, golfing, and I’m a bit of a geek with a rubix cube!

One of my favourite outings is our socials with my Ruby team - dancing with Sue especially! 🪩
