🆘 World Sepsis Day — 13 September | Sepsis Awareness Month (September)

Sepsis, often called the “hidden killer,” strikes quickly and can be devastating. In the UK alone:

Around 48,000 people die from sepsis-related illnesses every year—many of which could be prevented.

245,000 cases of sepsis occur annually, with five people losing their lives every hour.

Sepsis Awareness Month in September and World Sepsis Day on 13 September offer vital opportunities to learn the warning signs and act fast. Early recognition saves lives—don’t hesitate to ask "Could it be sepsis?" if infection symptoms worsen.

How you can help:

Get Sepsis Savvy—check out short videos, interactive games, and school resources to learn about sepsis signs.

Order free awareness packs—available for healthcare settings (GPs, pharmacies, care homes) to raise awareness among staff and patients.

Support or join events—fundraising challenges like “Step Up to Sepsis,” awareness talks, and community campaigns all raise life-saving awareness.

Let’s unite this September to shine a light on sepsis—recognise the signs, share the message, and save lives.

Key highlights:
IASP brings together mental health professionals, crisis workers, su***de survivors, and advocates across more than 50 countries to unite efforts and share knowledge.

Each year on 10 September, IASP and the World Health Organization co-lead World Su***de Prevention Day, a global campaign raising awareness that su***de is preventable.

How you can help:

Share the message — open conversations can save lives.

Join community awareness events or host one yourself using IASP’s campaign resources

Engage with allies — everyone has a role to play in preventing su***de.

Together, let's build a compassionate world where no one is left to suffer alone.

🩺 Do You Know Your Blood Pressure Numbers? 🩺

High blood pressure is often called the silent killer—it usually has no symptoms, yet it affects millions across the UK. In fact:

Around 6 million people in the UK have high blood pressure and don’t even know it.

Every year, 350 people a day suffer a heart attack or stroke that could have been prevented.

That’s why Know Your Numbers! is so crucial—this award-winning flagship campaign urges all UK adults to regularly check their blood pressure as easily as knowing their height or weight.

Ready to take action?

Find your nearest check location—shop, pharmacy, or community hub.

Host a Pressure Station and help raise awareness in your neighbourhood.

Spread the word—knowing your numbers helps you make lifestyle changes or get treatment early.

Let’s beat the silent killer together—because when it comes to blood pressure, knowledge is power. 💪

Create a Stir — host a coffee morning, bake sale, raffle, or craft fair. Your event can bring hope and vital funds.

Make a Regular Gift — your ongoing support helps transform lives.

Get involved:

Hear directly from patients and caregivers, share your story, and help raise awareness.
