I'm often asked, "why did you choose to be an Osteopath?" Well, it all started in the year 2000 following a particularly nasty fall from a horse. No, let's go back further than that. Age 18 I had a head on car accident on a lane. My car was hit at speed by an oncoming vehicle, sending me and my car back up the road, from which I had just come, approx 10yds or so. I had cracked/broken ribs and sternum and a very painful knee which had gone into and broken the dash. Ouch. Being 18, I bounced back until about a month later when I suddenly couldn't move my neck. Off I trotted to my grandparents much loved Chiropractor for my first experience of spinal manipulation. It did the trick, but I hated it.
Fast forward to the year 2000 and a fall off a horse where I was dragged and trodden on. (My fault for wearing the wrong boots!!). I remember the conversation, sitting on the floor in our local supermarket. Ringing a friend, "help, who do I go to, I'm not going back to the Chiropractor," I felt too vulnerable. She said, "I went to Marika, the Osteopath. It's not at all scarey." So off I went, and the rest as they say, is history. π₯°
