This includes a webinar that outlines how behavioural safety design can prevent falls from height and create safer, more resilient work at height environments as well as guidance and industry-specific info sheets and posters.
A matter of life and death: why businesses must check their bins
Every winter, as temperatures drop, some of Britain’s most vulnerable citizens seek shelter wherever they can find it. For rough sleepers, a large commercial waste bin might seem like temporary refuge from the cold. But this desperate act of survival can quickly become a death trap.
This video from the Environmental Services Association gives waste operatives an overview of how to check if someone may be sleeping inside or around a waste container and what to do if you do find someone:
A short and impactful video designed to remind operatives in the recycling and waste management sector to think twice before moving waste containers. People ...

Buncefield explosion: 20 years on ~ Lessons still to learn
The Buncefield oil depot explosion still feels like a wake-up call for anyone dealing with bulk storage and management of highly flammable liquids and major incident planning.
In the early hours of Sunday 11 December 2005, the Buncefield oil storage depot in Hemel Hempstead, UK, was rocked by a massive explosion.
The blast was caused by a vapour cloud explosion (VCE) - when a cloud of flammable vapour, gas, or mist ignites, creating a sudden and powerful overpressure.
One of the initial explosions registered 2.4 on the Richter scale, sparking a huge fire that engulfed most of the site.
Around 2,000 people were evacuated, over 40 were injured, and nearby homes and businesses suffered major damage. The fire burned for several days, sending thick black smoke across southern England.

The HSE have released their 2024/25 statistics on work-related ill health and workplace injuries in the UK.
Key findings:
• 1.9 million workers suffered from work-related ill health
• Mental health conditions remain the primary driver, with 964,000 workers reporting work-related stress, depression or anxiety
• 40.1 million working days lost due to work-related ill health and injuries
• Estimated annual cost of £22.9 billion to the economy
HSE Chief Executive Sarah Albon: "Great Britain maintains its position as one of the safest places to work globally, built on more than 50 years of health and safety regulation. However, these statistics demonstrate that workplace health challenges persist, particularly around mental health."
Protecting Workers from Workplace Transport: Getting the Basics Right
Every year, families across Great Britain face the devastating loss of a loved one killed by a reversing vehicle at work. These are not just statistics. They are family members, friends and colleagues whose lives were cut short by entirely preventable accidents.
The stark reality is that being struck by a moving vehicle accounts for 16% of all fatal work-related injuries, claiming an average of 21 lives annually over the past 5 years, making it one of the leading causes of work-related fatalities in Great Britain.
Looking at these incidents we see that many feature the same pattern – reversing vehicles.
The pattern is clear across multiple industries including agriculture (27% of vehicle deaths), construction, and transportation and storage (17% each). But the solutions are equally clear, if employers are willing to implement them properly.
