Our Managing Director, Carol, wants to share the following update:
“Following our initial statement, I want to provide an update on the investigation into the recent incident involving a member of our staff, which has circulated on social media.
A full disciplinary process has now taken place, and the carer involved has been dismissed with immediate effect.
I want to sincerely apologise to the service user and her family for the distress this situation has caused. This incident is not representative of the standards we uphold at Bellcare, and we deeply regret that this ever occurred.
As soon as concerns were raised, we acted in line with our procedures; however, the incident only became known to Bellcare once the video was made public, not in May when it occurred.
It is essential to note that we were not sent the footage directly before it was posted on social media. Had we received it in May, we would have initiated our response immediately.
We received no reports of verbal abuse until this video was published on social media. Two of our managers attended a meeting at the service user’s home on the 8th of July, and there was no mention of videos or verbal abuse.
During the process of a new provider being found and put into place, we worked side by side with Adult Social Care and the new provider to ensure that the care of the service user continued and remained uninterrupted.
Bellcare managers personally attended all care calls until the new provider took over, ensuring there was no break in the service user’s care. We remain committed to transparency, accountability, and above all, the safety and well-being of every individual in our care.”
