So people.... Yesterday I had the opportunity to sit with a group of new year 7s at a local school. I wanted to begin a conversation, an honest open one, that I'm not sure happens .... But I am happy to do this because I know that I can offer different solutions and begin to share some wisdom.
What harrowed me the most was every single one of them said their heads were 'full' when they laid down to go to sleep at night. None of them had a technique that was particularly effective or healthy.
We also talked about confidence as they embarked on secondary education. Half of them only had 50% confidence. Some less.
I swiftly shared some basic info around what EFT is and why it works and how. They all took part in a Tapping sequence that I adapted and was relevant at that moment. Afterwards a few of them openly shared they felt calm, their head was less full, they felt better. This was literally within a couple of minutes.
They ALL wanted me to go back and wanted to learn more. Our young people are SO in need of some impactful techniques that they hey can do at home, at school, in private, in public. I can teach this in a way that makes it secretive so no embarrassment whatsoever.
In the US, Canada, Australia schools are already using this daily in schools for regulating the nervous system, supporting anxiety and overwhelm and many children who are very tactile find it soothing. It's so adaptable to the individual.
Mindfulness is ok. It's a mind based practice.
This ain't.
This is energy.
This effects the Amygdala in the Brain, cues the parasympathetic nervous system. It also allows the person to create space between thought and reaction- and it's not driven by mind power.
I think I'm a bit deflated that schools don't seem to have funding? Want to trial this? Parents want their children to have tools. Maybe some don't care .... Either way our children are suffering. Essentially we are failing them?!.....
Who addresses their nerves when its exam time? On day 1, 2,3,4,5 in year 7 - I know many will be terrified.
I'm not in the system to know what schools have effective Universal safe practices?? With fully trained staff leading them?
A few hours workshop will not work. A staff CPD. It requires investment and trust in different approaches. Yes, not every child will gel with tapping, but like I said, there are SO MANY different ways to teach it.
If you feel your child needs some support please reach out. I may be looking at ways of engaging parents or even families to come and have a go. I do work one to one as well. Summertime I'm a little more limited around work commitments but I can respond to messages.
I'm wanting to secure work in a School in September. It works well with small groups as it's more personalized. I'm sure there is a mental health budget?? Does the current offer show real effectiveness for the child? Do they have something they can access for themselves? Interesting questions but valid....
Share my post and talk to me if you think you can help me get this into the hands of our children and young people. β€οΈ
