Submitted an ESA appeal for a client back in Feb 2022 (original claim was in 2020), Tribunal decision arrived today, gone from 0 to 30 points, and got a "limited capability for work related activity" decision. Great result for our Disability Claim Service client.

Personal Independence Payment success.

Approx’ £10,500 backdated disability benefits due to our resident, following our representation at PIP Appeal Tribunal today.

Our Disability Claim Service client has now been awarded Enhanced rate of for Daily Living and Mobility, backdated to August 22.

Appeal still in progress for the period prior to Aug 22, we will be attending the Tribunal hearing to support our client.

Useful Apps to have on your phone:

Protonmail - This is a fully encrypted secure email service that is completely free to use. Very useful for private/confidential emails, but also good for normal everyday use. More services are available to buy, but even if you just use the free email service it is still worth having a secure encrypted email address.

Olio - This App gives away surplus food. This may be end of day leftover items from a local convenience store or supermarket, or items people may have purchased in error and do not want the hassle of trying to return to the shop.

Freecycle - This is a website where people give things away that they no longer want, sometimes the items are new, e.g. unwanted gifts, or they are giving away secondhand items that they believe will be of use to other people. All listed items are entirely free.

Saynoto0870 - This is an online service that will enable you to search for non-premium rate, or multiple alternative, phone numbers for companies/organisations. It's very useful for avoiding premium rate call charges, or where a number is constantly busy or no longer in service, as it gives you alternative phone numbers to call.

Useful Apps to have on your phone:

WeQ4U - This App enables you to call a phone number where you expect to be “on hold” for a long time, without wasting your call minutes and allowing you to get on with other activities. Basically, it works by re-directing the call via the internet where the App itself stays “on hold” on your behalf, and when the person answers then the call is transferred back to you. As it is the App that is “on hold” on your behalf, you are not being charged for that “on hold” time.

Streetlink - This is an App that you can use to report the location of someone sleeping rough, so that a homelessness outreach worker can visit them and provide them with advice and assistance, such as food, drinks, sleeping bag, or even get them into emergency accommodation. Use in conjunction with the what3words App to give precise location details.

what3words - This is an App that will enable you to give your location, to within 3sqm, even in a field somewhere. Would be great when lost, or wishing to meet up with friends at a festival, or if your car has broken down and you don’t know where exactly. By using the three word combination provided by the App, your location can be accurately pinpointed so that people can find you.

Our hostel residents are offered a subsidised SIM card with unlimited calls, texts, and data, for just £2.70 per week, and a free (donated) mobile phone if they need one, so they can always contact their friends, family, and services.
