The days between Christmas and New Year are a unique time — a moment of pause before stepping into the new beginnings ahead. It’s a chance to reflect on the year gone by, acknowledge our growth, and set intentions for the year to come.

This is the perfect time to reset, recharge, and practice self care🌱

This Story is a wonderful demonstration of the powerful possibilities of Reiki energy's healing abilities. It is a story of a close family member. Before this story happened I did not know what Reiki was. Seeing the events below unfold in real life was the first step into my Reiki journey and one of the many reasons I am a practitioner today. I hope you enjoy 💕

"My Reiki story started when I was at a really low point in my life. After a bad fall from a horse my broken wrist was manipulated into position in A&E. Immediately after this, I knew something was badly wrong. I developed a burning pain which later proved to be damaged nerves.

The pain continued and the hand under the plaster was swollen and discoloured. A few weeks' later an intervention by a senior consultant resulted in the broken wrist being re-set under general anaesthetic. It was amazing to wake up and feel some comfort and that bones were in the right place after the operation.

Optimistically I thought all would be well, except I was still unable to feel anything in my fingers - even after the plaster was removed! Ice / heat I could not detect externally but a burning pain remained inside 🙁. I was sent for further tests including electrical stimulus which even at the top of the scale I could not feel, and my fingers had started to wither. I was then informed that the nerves to my hand were severely damaged and would require a further operation on my forearm - there were no guarantees of success, but I was told I would/could not recover without it.

I was in a really bad place. I had a busy life, including children to take care of, a business to run and horses to look after, every moment was now a struggle. At that point I had my first Reiki treatment, I only did this because I was so low I thought it would improve my mindset before the next operation. I had a couple of treatments and then amazingly I opened the fridge a few days later, took out some milk and felt the cold! I was elated, especially when I could also feel hot water! My nerves had repaired themselves. I cancelled my operation!

Fast forward to now. I still rely on Reiki in many situations. However, let's be clear Reiki is not a magic cure, what it seems to offer is an amazing ability to help the body heal itself. What do I mean? That without the operation to align the bones nothing would have worked but in putting this right, Reiki helped me complete the healing process without further intervention. I continue to use it to this day to promote self-healing."

✨ Sunday Story: Where Reiki Began ✨

In the early 1920s, Mikao Usui—founder of Reiki—went on a 21-day retreat to Mount Kurama in Japan. He spent his days meditating and reflecting, seeking clarity during a difficult time in his life.

According to accounts from his students, Usui experienced a deep moment of insight on the final morning of his retreat. When he returned to Kyoto, he began offering hands-on healing sessions that focused on calm presence and compassionate attention. People found his approach soothing, especially after the Great Kantō Earthquake of 1923, when he and his students helped comfort survivors.

Usui spent the rest of his life teaching these methods of gentle, mindful care—what we now call Reiki.

A simple beginning, rooted in compassion. ✨

“Reiki was not something I had ever thought about or understood until I met Chloe. I was sceptical at first. I have a condition called Fabry disease, it causes chronic pain, stomach problems, tremors and neurological issues to list a few - all accompanied by anxiety. Chloe advised Reiki helps the body to heal itself and helps you feel more relaxed and at ease. As someone who struggles to relax and overthinks everything I thought I may as well give it ago, I had nothing to loose.

I was really aware of myself in my first session and felt awkward but I can’t recommend Chloe enough she made me feel at ease and was so welcoming. I could actually feel the heat from her hands in places where I struggle with pain.

Since my first session my pain has eased, I can get up in the morning and stand on my feet without it being so painful - before I couldn’t take steps without limping. My anxiety has eased also, I was able to go out for two meals over the weekend without my anxiety creeping in. I didn’t even notice until Chloe asked me how I was feeling at my second session; that’s when I realised the pain and anxiety was a lot less!

My second session was really good, I was so much more relaxed. I highly recommend Reiki to anyone who struggles with pain/ anxiety or a limiting condition- you don’t have anything to loose by trying. I am so glad I did and now I look forward to my next sessions.”
