🎉🍾 Today at Highstone Mews we’re celebrating one of our very own! 🍾🎉
Celebrating our staff is just as important as celebrating the lives of our residents, and today we have plenty to pop corks for!
Chloe Evans has dedicated an incredible 15 years to Highstone Mews and, throughout that time, has worked in a number of roles before progressing to Home Manager.

Supported by Strong Life Care, Chloe has become a true force for good within our Worsborough Common home.
She always has her finger on the pulse, knows exactly what’s going on, and brings kindness, enthusiasm, and dedication to every single day. It’s no surprise our home continues to thrive with Chloe leading the team.

When choosing a home for yourself or a loved one, there’s no better recommendation than the longevity of staff and the warm, welcoming atmosphere they create.

Congratulations Chloe, from all your team at Highstone Mews and Strong Life Care 🎊
Thank you for everything you do 💙

🐣💙 A real family Easter at Highstone Mews 💙🐣

Highstone Mews was full of colour, laughter and plenty of Easter fun this weekend!

Residents got creative making their own beautiful Easter bonnets 🎩🌼 — and didn’t they do a fantastic job!

The celebrations didn’t stop there… we were delighted to welcome local children into the home, including staff’s children and residents’ grandchildren, for a very exciting Easter egg hunt.🐰🍫

Seeing generations come together like this is always so special. The smiles, the laughter and the shared moments made it a truly lovely day for everyone involved.

It really was a wonderful reminder of what makes Highstone Mews so special — a home filled with warmth, connection and a real sense of family 💙

💙 A beautiful moment at Highstone Mews 💙

At Highstone Mews, everything we do is centred around the people who live with us — taking the time to understand what brings comfort, happiness and a sense of calm.

This week, we saw just how powerful that can be.

Marlene was introduced to her new “baby” as part of our dementia care approach, and her reaction was simply heartwarming. The joy, the connection, the sense of comfort — it really said it all.

Doll therapy can have such a positive impact for people living with dementia. It can help reduce anxiety, encourage communication, and bring a sense of purpose — all in a gentle, reassuring way.

For some, it’s about comfort.
For others, it’s about connection.
And for many, it brings moments of real happiness.

It’s not about the doll — it’s about how it makes someone feel 💙

💙 Easter weekend is always something special in our homes 💙

Over the next few days, our homes will be filled with familiar faces, warm hugs, and the joy of being together. Families, friends and loved ones will be popping in, sharing stories, laughter… and of course, plenty of chocolate treats 🍫🐣

These moments matter. They bring comfort, connection and a real sense of home — not just for the people who live with us, but for everyone who walks through our doors.

While the celebrations are in full swing, we’re also incredibly grateful for our teams who will be there throughout the bank holiday weekend, doing what they do best. Showing up, caring, supporting, and making sure every day continues to be safe, warm and full of kindness.

To our staff, our residents, their families, and our wider community — thank you for being part of it all.

Wishing everyone a very Happy Easter 💛🌼

Happy Mother’s Day.

💐 Happy Mother’s Day from everyone at Strong Life Care 💐

Today we take a moment to celebrate and recognise all the wonderful mothers across our Strong Life Care community.

To the mothers who live in our homes, whose love, wisdom and life stories continue to inspire those around them…

To the mothers within our dedicated teams, who balance caring for others at work while supporting their own families…

And to the mothers among our residents’ families and the healthcare professionals we work alongside, who play such an important role in the lives of those we care for.

Motherhood is a journey of love, resilience and devotion, and today we honour every woman who has nurtured, supported and shaped the lives of others.

From all of us across our Strong Life Care homes, we wish you a very Happy Mother’s Day filled with love, reflection and peace.

💙 Everyone has a life worth celebrating.

☕ The Little Jobs That Mean So Much ☕

At Highstone Mews Care Home in Worsbrough Common, meaningful activities don’t always have to be big events. Sometimes it’s the simple, everyday moments that bring the biggest smiles.

Mary loves helping with the tea trolley, offering drinks and biscuits to other residents and proudly pushing the trolley around the home. It’s something she really enjoys and looks forward to.

Having a small job to do can make such a difference. It helps residents feel part of the community, valued and included, and gives them something purposeful to focus on — something we all benefit from in our own lives.

The team at Highstone Mews understand how important this is and make sure Mary is included in decisions and everyday life in the home.

And judging by the smiles when the tea trolley arrives… it’s a role everyone appreciates! 💛

🍒 Baking Fun at Highstone Mews 🍒

There’s nothing quite like the smell of baking to bring people together, and this week the residents at Highstone Mews Care Home in Worsbrough Common have been busy in the kitchen creating some delicious treats.

As the baking got underway, it even brought back memories of the old rhyme:

“Five currant buns in a baker’s shop,
Big and round with a cherry on the top…”

Well, there may not have been many currants this time — but there were certainly plenty of cherries!

Baking activities are always a favourite. They encourage residents to get involved, use their hands, share memories and enjoy the simple pleasure of creating something together.

And of course, the very best part comes at the end… tasting the results!

A lovely afternoon of laughter, memories and delicious homemade treats at Highstone Mews. 🍰

Community, Connection & Intergenerational Joy at Highstone Mews 🥰

There are moments in care that quietly remind you what truly matters — and this was one of them.

Residents from Highstone Mews Care Home in Worsbrough Common, Barnsley were delighted to attend an intergenerational carol concert and gift-giving ceremony at Worsborough Primary School, and the joy on both sides was unmistakable.

Our residents loved every moment — the singing, the festive atmosphere and, most of all, the company. And the children? Their smiles, curiosity and warmth said it all. With just a few shared glances, you could see genuine intergenerational connections beginning to grow.

Intergenerational experiences like this are incredibly important. They help reduce loneliness, lift mood, spark conversation and give residents meaningful moments to look forward to and talk about long after the day has ended. For children, they build empathy, understanding and respect — lessons that stay with them for life.

At Highstone Mews, intergenerational connection isn’t an “extra” — it’s part of everyday life. Outings, shared experiences and strong local partnerships help create a home where residents remain active, visible and truly connected to the world around them.

A heartfelt thank you to Worsborough Primary School for such a warm welcome. Moments like these are exactly what great care — and great community — look like. 💙
