Research shows physical therapy is effective for knee pain, offering short- and long-term relief by improving function and reducing pain. It is often considered a first-line, non-surgical treatment for conditions like knee osteoarthritis (OA) and can be as effective as, or more effective than, pain medications. Specific exercise therapies, including land-based exercise, aerobic exercise, and multimodal active physical therapy including physio and osteopathy, have all demonstrated significant benefits.

Yep, this is actually a phone call into our clinic last week. We are ecstatic that our great work from years of continual training at substantial financial cost pays off for the people we wish to serve, but this really takes the biscuit! We are a small business with increasing overheads month by month, consistently paying our staff, suppliers and taxes (often before we pay ourselves). I'm calling this out as not acceptable!

According to the Australian Physiotherapy Association: Physical therapy before and after joint replacement (including all allied professionals = physios and osteopaths), may improve a patients outcome to surgery by;

1) providing prehabilitation to optimise post-op recovery.
2) improving recovery from a joint replacement using an enhanced personalised recovery programme.
3) optimising post operative recovery through early joint mobilisation.
4) improving a patients general health by reducing factors that limit the outcomes of effective joint surgery such as strength, mobility, weight management and diet.
5) providing advice regarding effective pain relief strategies.

We encompass a strong Patient Informed Practice approach. This is where we looking at you holistically using Physical, Psychological/Emotional and Biochemistry markers. This falls in line with the Bio-psycho-social model of health. Modern pain science has taught us that drivers of pain can come from many factors, least likely to be a ‘dodgy disc’ or ‘worn out joint’. We will aid a recovery by identifying all the factors that are limiting your return to pain free movement and a healthier lifestyle.
