Nourishing Yin Yoga is designed to bring calm and balance. It is the antidote to a tired body, and an overstimulated mind.
With a combination of grounding floor-based poses, concentrated breath, supportive props, and a generous amount of time in each pose - this style of yoga is accessible to beginners and experienced practitioners alike.
What to expect
In Yin we go at a slower pace, and poses are held from 2 – 10 mins typically.
The poses themselves can be challenging to hold, and yet with slower conscious breaths we downregulate the nervous system, bringing back a calm and groundedness that is our blueprint when not overstimulated by life's demands.
I will offer you guidance to access each pose in a way that is most supportive for you, making Yin Yoga your favourite too.
As fascia and tightness releases - tension melts away and you are left with a sense of peace and centredness to carry you into your week ahead.
Yin Yoga & the Energy Body
In Yin Yoga we practice sequences of poses that directly target areas of the physical body but also specific meridian lines. Meridians are part of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and are channels where Qi (pronounced Chi) flows.
Qi is the vital life force of the body. Having enough Qi flowing smoothly in the meridians is key to health and longevity in body and mind. A Yin practice helps to make space in the meridians for the energy to flow easily.
