We all know the phrase a dog is a man’s best friend.

Well at melrose this week we saw that with our own eyes.

The Dogs Trust came in to tell us about their role in the community and along with that we had lots of our staff that brought in their dogs for our residents to see.

It was a wonderful session and many of the residents who were unable to get out of bed also were able to enjoy the bennifits of stroking a dog.

The morning was a huge success and we will do it again.

This session came about as many of our residents told us they loved dogs……
We listen to what our residents say and act on it.

We had many residents at the weekend come down to enjoy the session with May.

She made traditional Indian lassis for the residents tasting session.

This was a great opportunity for may to talk about her culture.

There was also time to and learn from
her some of the history of Bangladesh.

One of our values at melrose is Learning and Growth and this session just demonstrated we are never too old to learn something new.

Many of the Melrose team were delighted to join May and her husband on Monday at their Baby Reveal!

Our residents are excited to keep up to date with how May and the baby are doing.

It’s been a real opportunity for many of them to talk about their own pregnancies or what it was like to be a father to be!

None of them had heard of a Baby Reveal and so were happy to learn of a new approach to parenthood!

We are in the process of gathering some helpful advice from our residents in relation to parenthood and babies for May and her baby 😀

It could be easy to think that Bingo is just a game but at Melrose we know it’s so much more.

Playing bingo offers a range of mental, social, and physical health benefits for people of all ages. These benefits include enhanced cognitive function, improved mood and social connection, and better hand-eye coordination.

Not only all of the above but or residents told
Us this is what they would like to do.
We listen to what our residents tell us and act on it.

Our weekly Bingo session is a regular now on our schedule .

It’s never too soon to get ready for Christmas.

This weekend some of our residents were keen to show their skills at making mince pies.

A home based recipie was used.

Everyone was pleased with the results.

Well done ladies 👏

Another full room for the bi weekly physio session this week.

Stretching and strengthening was the purpose and everyone I have spoken with has told me they feel better and fitter for being part of these sessions.

These sessions help our residents physical bodies but also help them to feel good.

We believe at Melrose that looking after the whole person is essential to give them the outstanding care they deserve.
This is another reason many residents and their families chose Melrose.

We enjoyed a night to remember yestersay on November the 5th at Melrose.

Thankfully we had no rain and so after we enjoyed some marshmallow treats we got outside to celebrate Guy Falkes night with some sparklers.

It was a warm evening and it was good to see the residents and staff having fun together.

It was smiles all round. 😀👏

We have a generation of residents at Melrose that want to acknowledge and stand with those that lost their lives and give time for Rememberence Sunday.

This is coming up next Sunday.

However we at Melrose have a time of personal Remembrance tomorrow in honour of those we have lost someone important.

With this in mind some of our residents have also made their own Poppies and some for others. This is something very special.

It was a pretty dull and wet day yesterday without much opportunity to get outside.

The chef mentioned that we had some bananas that needed using up and so some of the residents took a look at some recipes on line to see what they could make.

They found a Banana Cake and we had all the ingredients to get going.

A wonderful cake was made everyone had the chance to take part who wanted and nearly everyone tried it. 10/10 was the scoring and so all decided it was a clear winner.

It is important to us at Melrose that our residents still get to be involved with the things they used to do at home such a baking.

This is why many residents and families choose melrose.
Please take a moment to pop in and see us and what we get up to day to day.

It was great to see yet another full room for our Bingo challenge this week.

We have been thrilled to see some of our residents offering to take control and lead the session rather than relying on the team.

At Melrose we want to encourage our residents to be as independent as they can in all areas and so volunteering to be the Caller for a Bingo session ticks that box!

Many of our residents and families tell us that when looking for a home Encouraging Independance was high on the list of priorities and that’s why they chose Melrose.

Why don’t you come and see for yourself and talk to our residents. Call and arrange a visit.

The room was full last week for our Bi - weekly physio session at Melrose.

These sessions have proved to be an absolute favourite for all residents.

The Good Therapy sessions are available for all residents that can come to the lounge along with the availability of specific private sessions for those residents that may choose this.

This has been yet another reason why many of our residents or their families have Chosen Melrose for their loved one.

Today some of our residents enjoyed making some Apple Tarts on National Apple Day.

Our residents love to still have the opportunity to do some of the things they loved to do when they were living at home. Lots of the ladies have loved to bake but also we have found the gentlemen enjoy it too!

These are just some of the reasons they chose to come to Melrose. Why not pop in and see why you would choose Melrose. 😀
