One of our lovely gentlemen wanted to go out to get his watch fixed today.

He was thrilled on the way back to make a Spur of the Moment decision to pop into the Art Gallery in Worthing and then got to enjoy a coffee.

He said it’s been wonderful since being at Melrose to be still able to make some on the spot decisions like he used to when he was at home.

Our weekly Bingo Group set off today with everyone ready to get going.

We started this group because one of our residents told us that he used to love going to Bingo when he was at home. He asked us could we start a group and of course we said yes.

He did a lot of the canvassing for the group and it’s well attended.

When we asked our residents what the enjoy about it….
They said

It’s very social
It’s Great Fun
We can all have a go
We can help each other
We can all be winners.

I think you’ll agree some fantastic reasons to keep doing it. 😀

On a dull day like today it’s good to see our residents have the opportunity to get out and about on a sunny day.

Taking excercise in the fresh air is said to have significant health benifits for the mind and body, including improving mood and reducing stress along with increased energy and better physical health.

Always a win for our residents to have the local park just over the road with a large green space.

So some days we can think it’s going to be a dull day because see what’s happening outside with the weather or what’s on the news.

We would all agree the weather has gone to the other extreme and maybe the news too!

But inside at Melrsoe this week was a hive of activity.

We had a full house in our physio group session and Matt got everyone engaged in activity that not only has bennifits for the moment but a knock on for each day.

These sessions are so popular at Melrose.

Today our residents enjoyed a Hot Cross Bun in September.

Who would have expected National Hot Cross Bun day not to be at Easter.

Most residents said they would enjoy a Hot Cross Bun at any time.
It was interesting also to hear what they like to have it with. Some said just butter, some Jam, some cheese.

What is your preference when eating a Hot Cross Bun?

We had another fantastic session this morning of Drumming Therapy.

It is said that Drunming provides significant health bennifits by acting as a powerful outlet for stress and emotion, boosting confidence, improving mindfulness and focus, and an opportunity to foster social connection through being part of a group.

It’s great fun if you have never tried it before and it was good that some family members and staff could join in.

A full house again today for our Group Physio session.

When I asked our residents what they like about these sessions one of the things they told me was that they have the opportunity to try somethings they thought they would never have the chance to do again and this makes them feel happy.

This alines so much with our values at Melrose.
