🍌 FOOD OF THE WEEK – BANANAS 🍌

❓ Do you have any bananas in your kitchen right now?

💛 They are one of the most convenient natural healthy snack foods you can buy.

➡ They’re portable because they come with their own container (their peel)
➡ They add sweetness to your recipes without added sugars
➡ They are high in nutrients your body needs

👍🏾 PLUS … they are packed with health benefits. Rich in potassium, they also can help promote healthy blood pressure, protect heart health, and support kidney function.

Because they’re high in fibre, they are also good for your digestive system.

And they can even help reduce exercise-related soreness.

✅ TIP: Keep frozen banana chunks in your freezer for a quick icy snack – pop them into a blender for “faux” ice cream.

😋 They’re also great in smoothies, added to fruit salad, or slathered with almond butter.

🌶 FOOD OF THE WEEK – CAYENNE PEPPER 🌶

😋🥺🥵 Spicy food lover?! YES or NO?! (Answer in a GIF!)

🔥 Cayenne peppers are surprisingly good for you. Their “power” ingredient is capsaicin, which gives them both their nutritional benefits and their spicy-hot taste!

💡 Capsaicin is used in a lot of over-the-counter remedies, from pain-relieving creams to supplements.

👉🏾 That’s because on top of easing soreness, it can slightly boost your metabolism and reduce feelings of hunger. Plus, it’s good for your digestive system, helps with lower blood pressure, and has anti-cancer qualities.

💡 Note: More spice/cayenne isn’t always better – if you already eat spicy foods, adding even more of it to your diet probably won’t give you additional benefits.

👩🏾‍🍳 Add cayenne to scrambled eggs, sauces, stir-fries, casseroles, and chilli!

Tip Thursday

❓So proud of all of you who are time blocking this week! How is everything going so far?! Have you noticed a big difference?

💡Buffer time is EVERYTHING. For example – give yourself an extra 15 minutes before you leave for work (and after you get home) to help take care of any loose ends or start/end the day without any stress.

💪Or give yourself a few extra minutes after your workout to cool down a bit more before diving into the next thing on your list.

⏰This might seem overkill, but when you don’t account for this time, you seem to run out of it faster. When you’re intentional about it ... you’ll find you’re a LOT more productive because you won’t feel so rushed!

What's Cooking Wednesday?

🍗😋 This recipe will let you raid your spice rack! The combo is so good and the recipe really couldn’t be easier.

✅ Serve it with your favourite veggies and some sweet potatoes for a complete meal.

SIMPLE SPICE-RUBBED CHICKEN
(Serves 4)

● 2 tsp curry powder
● 1 tsp each ground ginger, chipotle pepper, garlic powder, and paprika
● ½ tsp cumin
● ¼ tsp cayenne pepper
● Sea salt and freshly ground black pepper;
● 900 - 1300 g chicken pieces, skin on or off
● Avocado oil or butter, as needed

Preheat your oven to 400ºF (200ºC). Using avocado oil or butter, grease a baking dish that’s big enough to hold all the chicken.

Combine all the spices in a bowl, and add a couple of healthy pinches of salt and pepper.

Place the chicken in the baking dish and bake for about 45 minutes – or until the chicken is no longer pink and the juices run clear. A thermometer inserted into the thickest part of the chicken should register 165ºF (75ºC).

Remove from the oven and serve!

🔥📢 WEEKLY CHALLENGE! 📢🔥

⭐ Are you a natural planner or do you “wing” your daily schedule, letting things unfold naturally?

If you DON’T prioritise the things that are really important to you … they somehow find a way never to get done.

For a lot of people … this ends up with missed workouts, eating out at the last minute, and added stress because you feel like you’re always falling short on your goals.

That’s why this week, we’ve got a TIME BLOCKING CHALLENGE.

MAJOR BONUS: it will not require you to add yet another thing to your schedule.

👉🏾 Instead, your challenge is to make the most of the time already existing in your day by making it USEFUL time!

Here’s how it works: Sit down with your calendar and set aside specific blocks of time during the week to focus on the things that are your highest priority!

Block in time for your workouts, your meals/food prep, family time, appointments, errands, self-care, etc., as well as work-related activities. Don’t forget to add some buffer time in case things don’t go according to plan. (hint: they never do!)

✅ This is so much more effective than “winging it” and leaving the things that matter most to chance!

You’ll also feel a lot less stressed because you know everything will be handled in due time and not fall through the cracks.

⚡So, are you going to join us? What’s the FIRST thing you’re going to block off in your schedule this week!? 👇🏾👇🏾

Tip Thursday

🦶How long can YOU stand on one foot – with your eyes closed? (NOTE: make sure you have a table or wall to grab before you do this.)

✅ I have a fun tip for your balance challenge this week! Experiment with standing on one foot while you’re doing things like standing in line or brushing your teeth.

💡And if that feels too easy, do the eyes-closed version (stay safe though!).

👉Think you can last more than a minute? Try it and let me know. :)
