Julie Slumbers Counselling I am a private integrative counsellor offering open ended counselling for a wide variety of issues. I also supervise individuals and groups. Hi.

I am a therapist who works with clients from 13 years upwards. I started counselling at The Information Shop, working with clients between 13 and 25 years old. Young people often find managing their emotions difficult due to the developmental changes, as well as coping with family dynamics, being exposed to drink, drugs and sexual exploration. It can be confusing. Self-harm and eating disorders often develop at this stage of life as a means of controlling uncomfortable emotions. I also worked for SASS, an agency specializing in people misusing alcohol and drugs. This was time-limited work. SASS no longer exist - they became a part of CRi. In 2013 I worked at Salvington Lodge Hospital offering counselling to many elderly patients who were usually coming to terms with either terminal illness and end of life, or moving into a care home and losing their independence. In addition to counselling, I am a clinical supervisor for individuals and groups, having several years experience working at The Information Shop with two groups and at Arun Counselling Centre, where I have recently taken on the role of Director.
