More about....

I started practising Yoga 22 years ago in London, originally exploring different styles as I developed my own practice including Hatha, Power, Kundalini and Flow. I eventually trained to teach, obtaining my teaching certificate in in 2013 in an extensive course in Classical Hatha Yoga at the AyurYoga Eco-Ashram Mysore, India ( U.K Yoga Alliance approved). Whist living there, I taught at the community class at the Karma Yoga NGO school in Phnom Penh Cambodia; a school which offered apprenticeship program geared specifically to the needs of young Cambodians from under-privileged backgrounds. It was an honour to be a part of this incredible venture. On my way back home, I stopped in Thailand for a retreat and was invited to teach 70 retreat-ants every morning for 2 hours at the Meditation Retreat at the Suan Mokkh Monestry, I felt enthused and invigorated from the intense experience. I finally came back to my roots here in the U.K and set up my own class when we settled in Worthing in 2014. In addition to regular teaching since then, I have been influenced and continued to develop my practice through Buddhism, attending courses such as those in Yin Yoga, courses run by Pete Blackaby, Mindfulness Based Compassionate Living, Meditation and reflecting deeply on the connection between self-care, kindness and how this ripples out into the world, people; and our lives around us. I have also come to realise through the journey, teaching is acknowledging that yoga is more about anothers’ inner journey/experience than an exact 'correct' posture, as all of our bodies and beings are quite unique! Finally, I am really fortunate to be on the path training to be a psychotherapist and have a sincere interest in Somatic therapy and the link between physiology and psychology. That is to say how we hold old trauma and emotions in our body, and how with gentle movement we can allow, and begin to let go more. Personally I have found it incredibly helpful to befriend these difficult parts more and bring kindness and care to our bodies, and then letting go into the beyond... I hope to have the opportunity to share the journey with you and support you in finding a way to begin a dialog with your own body, healing and wellness in life through Mindful Loving Yoga.
