🌸 Olive - Deep exhaustion
Olive is for genuine depletion. This is the tiredness that follows long periods of physical or emotional strain including recovery after illness, stress, overwork or caring for others. During winter this can show up as feeling worn out, lacking resilience and struggling to feel restored even after rest.
Olive supports the gentle rebuilding of strength and vitality after long periods of strain.

🌸 Hornbeam - The Monday morning feeling
Hornbeam is linked to mental tiredness rather than physical exhaustion. Often described as the ‘Monday morning feeling’ there’s a sense of heaviness or resistance before the day has even begun. Tasks feel overwhelming in advance yet once started they are usually managed well.
Hornbeam supports mental freshness, motivation and the inner readiness to meet daily tasks with more ease.

If January feels heavy or slow, understanding the kind of tiredness you’re experiencing can be the first stop towards feeling more like yourself again, as January blues are never the same for everyone.

Bach flower remedies support the emotional patterns that can keep habits in place, helping change feel calmer and more achievable.

🌸 Walnut - supports times of change and transition. Helpful when trying to break from old habits, routines or influences and need protection while forming new ways of being.

🌸 Crab Apple - known as the cleansing remedy. Supports feelings of dissatisfaction with self and unwanted habits. Helps you feel more accepting and comfortable within yourself.

🌸 Chestnut Bud - for when the same patterns repeat again and again. Supports awareness and learning from past experiences so habits don’t keep looping unconsciously.

🌸 Cherry Plum - for fear of losing control or acting impulsively. Supports a sense of inner calm, trust and gentle self control rather than suppression.

This New Year instead of forcing change consider supporting yourself emotionally as you create it.

If you’re curious to know which remedies might support you this year, feel free to get in touch 🌸

The beginning of a new year is a time when many of us will be choosing to leave behind parts of ourselves and discover the new.

Leaving the past behind is very much the domain of Honeysuckle.

Nora quoted Dr Bach as saying of Honeysuckle:
This is the remedy to remove from the mind the regrets and sorrows of the past, to counteract all influences, all wishes and desires of the past and to bring us back to the present….

Significantly, Lonicera caprifolium, which is Bach’s Honeysuckle, begins to break into leaf in December-January. As the days begin to lengthen, it is one of the first plants to respond to the new and to release the old.

As we stride forward into the new year, the spirit of Honeysuckle is a welcome companion.

Old man’s beard or Travellers joy are the seed heads of Bach flower Clematis. You can see the silvery white wispy seed heads scrambling over hedgerows and shrubs this time of year. The white Clematis flowers are favoured by pollinators in the summer months whilst during winter the seed heads provide food for birds.

When in a negative Clematis state you are dreamy, fantasising and thinking ahead to the future but not focused to carry out your hopes and dreams. Not living in the present moment. Can be absentminded, forgetful and lack concentration.

This remedy will help you focus on the present and to feel grounded. Improve concentration and memory.

Clematis is also one of the 5 essences used in Rescue Remedy.

Edward Bach reminds us that each of us has a unique purpose in life and that our soul, mind and body are all part of how we live it out. When they are working together life feels a little more balanced, a little clearer and we can move through challenges with more ease. It’s in this harmony that we find real peace, well being and a sense of happiness that comes from living in line with who we truly are.

“We might wonder how terror can be one of the ‘twelve primary types of personality’. Indeed, among the majority of people using Bach’s remedies today Rock Rose is seen as only a treatment for acute fear, panic or distress (he called it ‘the rescue remedy’). While it does work in that way it also has a deeper resonance with a certain type of person: one who lives life mutely under the intense pressure of fear. It is a particular kind of fear, however, not the nervous fear of Mimulus but rather a deeply hidden fear of life itself. Being hidden it is perhaps hard for others to recognise. Like the secrets of the twelfth house in astrology the Rock Rose secret is not apparent to the outer world. Only those who resonate with the blind panic of the Rock Rose soul will recognise its quality.”

Black Friday 🎁

Being present means engaging fully with the moment you’re in, yet many people find this challenging due to distractions, worries or persistent thought patterns. Bach flower remedies can offer gentle support by addressing the emotional states that pull attention away from the here and now.

There are several remedies that help with supporting presence.

🌸 Clematis - selected when attention drifts or there is a tendency toward daydreaming or detachment. It supports clearer focus and engagement with the present moment.

🌸 Honeysuckle - helpful when someone feels overly attached to past events or memories making it difficult to connect with the present.

🌸 White Chestnut - used when persistent repetitive thoughts dominate, pulling awareness away from what is happening now. It supports a calmer more settled mind.

🌸 Chestnut Bud - encourages greater awareness of one’s actions and choices, helping individuals learn from past mistakes rather than repeating them and promoting a more mindful conscious approach.

Using these remedies can make it easier to stay grounded and focused on the present. Each one supports emotional balance in its own way helping you feel more aware and less pulled off track. Bach flower remedies offer gentle support that can help presence feel more natural in everyday life.

I often get asked how Bach Flower remedies work, I love explaining it because it is such a beautiful, gentle system.

The remedies work on an energetic level, helping to restore balance between mind and emotions. Each of the 38 remedies relates to a specific feeling or mood such as fear, worry, uncertainty or overwhelm.

When you take a personal blend it helps to gently shift how you feel bringing your emotions back into harmony. They don’t block or suppress what you’re feeling instead they support you in understanding and moving through those emotions more easily.

Because they work so subtly with your body’s own energy they’re completely natural, safe and can be used alongside other treatments or medication.

It’s about helping you find your way back to calm, balance and emotional well being naturally 🌸

Bach flower essences are far from prescriptive in their application. Bach firmly believed that every single person responds differently to disease and that the solution was equally individual.

This ethos reinforces the need not only for self-awareness but self-compassion too. The path of healing asks for rigorous investigation without judgement, so that space is available to process. If we can show ourselves compassion, we can begin to live with more compassion generally. This highlights the subtle and intricate webs that support well being in every aspect of life.

As people have learnt and worked with Bach’s system, an equally diverse approach to using the essences has emerged.

In a Journey into Healing, we explore the history of the essences and how they can be used. Featuring many practitioners offering different viewpoints, this film offers practical insight into the world of Bach flower essences.
