Why I give foot soaks 🍀

I like to offer a foot soak to clients because it is a good way to start relaxation. This helps the body and mind to be ready to receive the treatment, releasing those natural endorphins which help to heal and restore.

It’s a time when I can discuss any health issues my client has and decide how to tailor my treatment accordingly.

Often, clients say how much they enjoy just having the foot soak as they don’t think of doing it at home.

Foot baths are an important ritual in many cultures.
I find it a privilege to give it and a kind act prior to a reflexology treatment.

However, it isn’t compulsory. All my clients have a choice of having a foot soak or not.

Looking after your feet is an important thing to do which we can sometimes overlook in our busy lives.

And if you’re suffering with a bit of the winter blues, just soaking your feet in lovely warm water with whatever additions you fancy, oils, herbs, flowers, smooth stones etc can boost your wellbeing, aid relaxation and also soften your skin.

Deep Rest 🟰 Real Healing

True healing doesn’t happen when we are rushing, worrying, or pushing through.
It happens when we drop into deep relaxation, when the body and mind finally feel safe enough to unwind.

This is how Reflexology supports our body and mind, as the nervous system slows down, heart rate and blood pressure lower, stress hormone levels drop, and our breath deepens.

In that state of rest, the body is able to do what it is naturally designed to do: rebalance, repair, and restore.

Many clients say they feel like they’ve had a full night’s sleep after a session, but the effects go deeper than that.

Reflexology to aid fitness

Reflexology can offer several potential benefits to athletes by targeting specific pressure points on the feet that correspond to different parts of the body. While scientific evidence is limited and reflexology should not be considered as a substitute for medical treatment or physical therapy, many atheletes use it as a complementary practice. Here`s how it might help:

Improved circulation

Reflexology may stimulate blood flow which helps deliver oxygen and nutrients to tissues more efficiently. This can support muscle recovery after intense work outs or competitions.

Reduced muscle tensions and pain.

Applying pressure to reflex points may help relax tight muscles, reduce inflammation and alleviate general soreness especially in areas like the calves, hamstrings, lower back and the feet themselves.

Enhanced recovery

By promoting relaxation and potentially improving lymphatic drainage, reflexology can help remove metabolic waste products (like lactic acid) speeding post exercise recovery.
