A little refresher about me for those who are new here.
I’m Emma, the therapist behind MindKey Therapy. I’m a BABCP accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapist (CBT) and EMDR Europe trained therapist.
I’ve been working in mental health for over 15 years now, across a range of settings including local authority services, community mental health teams, CAMHS, and most recently within the NHS as a Psychotherapist. Before becoming a therapist, I trained and qualified as a mental health social worker, and I still maintain my professional registration in England.
Over the years I’ve continued to develop my training so that I can offer the most effective, evidence-based therapies. Alongside CBT, I’m also trained in EMDR and Narrative Exposure Therapy, which are approaches that can be particularly helpful for people who have experienced trauma.
In my practice, I work with adults (18+) who may be struggling with the impact of trauma or difficult life experiences. I also support people experiencing anxiety, overthinking, constant worry, low mood or depression.
Therapy isn’t about being “fixed”. It’s about having a space where you feel heard, understood and supported while learning skills that can help you move forward and regain a sense of control in your life.
One of the most important parts of therapy is the relationship you have with your therapist. It’s really important that you feel comfortable with the person you choose to work with, so I always encourage people to take their time and decide whether therapy feels right for them and whether we’re a good fit.
For me, supporting people to rediscover hope, make sense of their experiences and move towards the life they want is a privilege I never take for granted.
If you’re curious about therapy or wondering whether it might help, feel free to have a look around the website or get in touch if you have any questions.
Sessions are available online or face to face.
If you feel ready to take the first step, I’d be really glad to help you take the next.
