At Haine & Smith we believe that your relationship with us doesn’t end when you have your eye examination or buy glasses or contact lenses; this is where it begins. We’ve created this page so you can keep up to date with all our latest news and offers, talk about eye health and the latest frame styles, as well as share your experiences and ideas. We’d love you to post a comment or query and will always try to reply to your questions as soon as possible. We will be on-hand between 9:00am and 5:00pm, Monday to Friday (excluding bank holidays), so please bear with us if you post outside of these times. To ensure this page is a pleasant place for all of us, we kindly ask that you respect the following guidelines:

As the days get darker and the heating goes up, our eyes can really feel the chill! Cold winds, dry indoor air and long hours in front of screens can all lead to tired, irritated or watery eyes.

Here’s how to keep your vision clear this winter:

👓 Don’t ditch the shades: UV rays are still strong, even on cloudy days.

💧 Add moisture: use a humidifier and drink plenty of water to fight dry air.

🖥️ Rest your eyes: follow the 20-20-20 rule: every 20 minutes, look 20 feet away for 20 seconds.

🥦 Eat for your eyes: omega-3s, leafy greens, and vitamin-rich foods keep them in top shape.

As we celebrate Bonfire Night, let’s keep the fun safe for our eyes! Fireworks, smoke, and sparklers are exciting, but they can be dangerous if precautions aren’t taken:

While you're enjoying costumes, face paint, and novelty contact lenses, remember to keep your eyes safe:

🎨 Face paint: Always use products labelled safe for the eye area. Avoid applying too close to your eyes to prevent irritation.

👗 Costumes: Masks and accessories should not obstruct your vision or poke near your eyes.

👁️ Novelty contact lenses: Only purchase from eye care professionals and ensure they are prescribed for your eyes. Never share lenses with others!
