Meet Shelby our star 🌟

We’re excited to introduce our first Star Patient, Shelby the Lhasa Apso cross🏅💛

Before Christmas, Shelby came in as an emergency after losing the use of his back legs. Lizzie, one of our vets, found abnormalities in his reflexes which indicated a spinal problem.

Shelby was admitted to Dereham Vets and given strong pain relief to keep him comfortable. Meanwhile, Lizzie contacted Ben, a referral surgeon, to discuss further treatment. That afternoon, Shelby was referred to the lovely team at Debenham Vets, a local referral centre.

After further investigation, Ben and his team proceeded to operate on Shelby to relieve the pressure on his spine, caused by a degenerated disc.

We are delighted to say that since surgery, Shelby has made a great recovery and has undergone a rehabilitation programme with our in-house physio Rachael Hood (EquiPhysique Physiotherapy) 💪

Shelby’s sessions are aimed at improving his strength and use of his back legs. Shelby’s owner also carries out these exercises at home which he enjoys, thanks to a bit of bribery! 😋

A huge thank you to the referral team at Debenham Vets, Rachael our in-house physio and to Shelby’s owners for their dedication to his rehab programme 👏
