Change is something we often find hard, especially when we haven’t planned or welcomed events…. But remember ❤️
Don't abandon yourself. Not when you're sick. Not when you're tired.
Not when you've lost the thread, the thought, or the thing you thought defined you.

You will die many times in one life and create yourself anew. This is natural. This is a gift.
I've died a few times now here in this world. The person I was: gone.

“We know very well that airplanes, guns and bombs cannot remove wrong perceptions. Only loving speech and compassionate listening can help people correct wrong perceptions. But our leaders are not trained in that discipline, and they only rely on the armed forces to remove terrorism.”

I’m hearing a lot of people say they feel helpless while watching a war and the inevitable suffering unfold. What can we do? Speak with compassion , encourage truth and non violence. Offer practical help to those in need and remembering that peace and the language of reconciliation is our humanity. Stay with that.

Always remember ..take your time ❤️
When the world has you overwhelmed,
Set everything aside.
Keep the big things there,
Bring the little things in, one by one.
Slowly.
Get dressed,
Brush your teeth,
Eat.
Congratulate yourself on each and every tiny achievement and refuse the to-do list any air-time.
Then,
Take a seat,
Relax,
Read,
Listen to your music.
That’s enough.
You have done well my friend,
For now.
Reach inside and shake hands with your soul who is, for the most part, ignored and abused, squashed and squeezed into a world gone mad.
Remember you are driving yourself through a fast-paced life that was not really your creation.
Remember who you are; child of the universe, full of wonder and joy.
Too much work will break a back.
Take a rest my friend.
The big things were not your doing, not really.
You will get them done,
When you're ready.
And you will be ready, because,
that’s just who you are.

It’s Random Acts of Kindness Week encouraging random acts of kindness to be the norm. It can be a challenge sometimes because people can be dealing with there own stuff or unaware how their behaviour impacts on others. Often “unkindness” has nothing to do with you… the only way is be respectful to yourself and others. Please “Be” kind to the unwanted parts of yourself. ❤️

When life feels complicated sometimes it’s simple ❤️
TAKE THE TIME TO READ IT ❤️

my brain and
heart divorced

a decade ago

over who was
to blame about
how big of a mess
I have become

eventually,
they couldn't be
in the same room
with each other

now my head and heart
share custody of me

I stay with my brain
during the week

and my heart
gets me on weekends

they never speak to one another
- instead, they give me
- the same note to pass
- to each other every week
and their notes they
send to one another always
says the same thing:

"This is all your fault"

on Sundays
my heart complains
about how my
head has let me down
in the past

and on Wednesday
my head lists all
of the times my
heart has screwed
things up for me
in the future

they blame each
other for the
state of my life

there's been a lot
of yelling - and crying

so,

lately, I've been
spending a lot of
time with my gut
who serves as my
unofficial therapist

most nights, I sneak out of the
window in my ribcage

and slide down my spine
and collapse on my
gut's plush leather chair
that's always open for me

~ and I just sit sit sit sit
until the sun comes up

last evening,
my gut asked me
if I was having a hard
time being caught
between my heart
and my head

I nodded

I said I didn't know
if I could live with
either of them anymore

"my heart is always sad about
something that happened yesterday
while my head is always worried
about something that may happen tomorrow,"
I lamented

my gut squeezed my hand

"I just can't live with
my mistakes of the past
or my anxiety about the future,"
I sighed

my gut smiled and said:

"in that case,
you should
go stay with your
lungs for a while,"

I was confused
- the look on my face gave it away
"if you are exhausted about
your heart's obsession with
the fixed past and your mind's focus
on the uncertain future

your lungs are the perfect place for you

there is no yesterday in your lungs
there is no tomorrow there either

there is only now
there is only inhale
there is only exhale
there is only this moment

there is only breath

and in that breath
you can rest while your
heart and head work
their relationship out."

this morning,
while my brain
was busy reading
tea leaves

and while my
heart was staring
at old photographs

I packed a little
bag and walked
to the door of
my lungs

before I could even knock
she opened the door
with a smile and as
a gust of air embraced me
she said

"what took you so long?"

I hear you say… mmm yes I breathe 24/7 and to be honest it can feel such trivial advice when your struggling. If we just replace the word anxiety with feeling uncomfortable, then we can really start understanding the benefits of deep breathing and that by getting more oxygen into your body you will feel physically and psychologically better.
So why should you do this? Simply put- extra oxygen does wonders for the body and mind. It cleanses, opens and soothes different parts of our being and is overall something extremely healthy we can all do. At Heart Wisdom we’ll soon be starting online sessions to support you through some of life’s challenges using mindfulnesses… and yes the power of breath, watch this space. ❤️

Thich Nhat Hanh was a peace activist and through his brilliant mindfulness teachings, he also helped people try to live happily by letting go of worry and being.

In some dark moment he helped myself and many of us with some words of wisdom just when we needed to hear them.

May his light for peace and healing in the world keep shining and be reborn in us all. ❤️🙏🏼

We who have touched war have a duty to bring the truth about war to those who have not had a direct experience of it. We are the light at the tip of the candle. It is really hot, but it has the power of shining and illuminating. If we practice mindfulness, we will know how to look deeply into the nature of war and, with our insight, wake people up so that together we can avoid repeating the same horrors again and again.

Mindfulness. ... is a way of learning to use simple techniques through meditation and breathing to help you become more aware of your thoughts, feelings, and body sensations that lead to stress, so that instead of being overwhelmed by them you are better able to manage them. That means learning to take care of your own needs, avoiding becoming overwhelmed, feeling motivated by life again, taking breaks without guilt, not it getting irritated by people and leaving that feeling behind that your on auto pilot where life just happens to you.

All Retreats are hosted by Roz Cusack who is an experienced Therapist and Mindfulness Teacher trained in NHS approved Mindfulness program’s called Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction.

For both beginners and anyone more practised in mindful meditation. You will by the end of the Retreat;
* Learn simple Mindfulness Meditations to help with everyday stress.
* How to use Mindfulness into your life.
* Gentle movement to ease and take time to relax your body
* Eco-therapy experience being mindful outside (weather permitting)

* All meditation cushions and mats provided, You are however welcome to bring your own cushions, blankets and eye masks to personalise your experience.
