From a chance meeting on New Year’s Eve 1968 to a lifetime of love, Barrie and Joyce share their beautiful story as part of the 💗

After meeting at a hotel dinner dance in Coventry, their connection was instant. From telephone box calls and first dates at The Dick Turpin to over 4 wonderful decades of marriage, their love has stood the test of time. Even now at Windmill House Care Home, Barrie remains by Joyce’s side every single day - a true gentleman devoted to his “one in a million” 💛

💛 Minnie & Mickey Day at Windmill House 💛
Today at Windmill House we held a very special Minnie and Mickey Mouse Day to raise money for the Sunny Day Charity, in support of a very special little boy, Ermir.
Ermir has been diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia and also has a rare genetic condition called Weaver Syndrome. His chemotherapy treatment has affected his mobility, and funds raised will go towards helping provide a new specialised buggy to support him.
Our residents, families and staff came together for a hamper raffle a big congratulations to gilly our lovely resident on winning the hamper ,we also enjoyed lots of Minnie and Mickey Mouse cupcakes, all in the spirit of kindness and community.
It was a truly heartwarming day, showing that even the smallest acts of love can make a big difference 💙
Thank you to everyone who supported us — your generosity means so much and so far we have raised a fantastic £173.55 ☺️

A lovely Day Out and a Little Valentine’s Joy 💕

Our residents from Windmill House - Runwood Homes Senior Living recently enjoyed a wonderful trip out in the minibus to a local garden centre in Wymondham, and it was a day full of smiles from start to finish.

We spent time browsing the shelves, admiring the lovely and colourful decorations that brought plenty of conversation and inspiration. There was so much to see, and everyone enjoyed taking it all in at a relaxed pace.

Afterwards, we settled into the garden centre café for a well-earned break. Hot drinks and tasty snacks were enjoyed alongside great company and plenty of friendly chats, making it a truly special moment for everyone.

On our way back home, we decided to spread a little extra happiness. Small Valentine’s gifts, complete with chocolate and hearts, were dispatched around our town for locals to find and enjoy. It was a simple gesture, but one filled with love and kindness—perfect for Valentine’s Day.

A big thank you to everyone who helped make the day so enjoyable. These outings mean so much to our residents, and we’re already looking forward to the next adventure.

A busy Saturday at Windmill House - Runwood Homes Senior Living we have made a start this morning making chinese lanterns ready to decorate the home for luna new year 🎆 then to round of Saturday afternoon we have made delicious ice cream milk shakes which we all definitely enjoyed 🍦🥤,we hope you have all had a lovely Saturday too 😊

Valentine’s Lantern Making ❤️🏮❤️

This morning, residents from Windmill House - Runwood Homes Senior Living enjoyed a popular arts and crafts activity—making beautiful Valentine’s lanterns together. It was a relaxed and creative session that everyone really enjoyed.

Using jars, residents decorated them with hearts in different sizes and shades of love, including red and pink. The hearts were carefully glued onto the jars, and a tealight was placed inside each one.

The finished lanterns make beautiful table decorations for Valentine’s Day. When the lights are dimmed, the lanterns create a fantastic effect, glowing warmly and filling the room with a cosy, romantic atmosphere.

Arts and crafts activities like this are always popular with residents, offering a chance to be creative, socialise, and celebrate special occasions together. These Valentine’s lanterns are a lovely reminder that a little creativity can bring a lot of joy ❤️

Today we’re celebrating Simon, our amazing maintenance man and a true family member of our care home for nearly 15 years!

Always going above and beyond, Simon works tirelessly to keep our home well maintained and, most importantly, to keep everyone safe. A true handyman and jack of all trades, there’s honestly nothing he can’t fix!

Thank you for your dedication, hard work, and commitment over the years. We’re so lucky to have you on our team.
