As 2023 draws to an end, a sincere thank you to every person I’ve had the pleasure to meet, worked alongside and who have supported opportunities to grow!

Anyone who knows me will know how I always play the beautiful Ludovico Einaudi music in my clinic to bring the sense of calm and peace. So here is a little repost from his page which has stayed in my thoughts.

‘Imagine all the people, living life in peace’

World Menopause Day 2023! 💖

It’s been great to work alongside UEA well-being team to deliver this podcast discussing everything Menopause - from symptoms to management.

Helping to raise awareness, enable better understanding of our bodies and knowing how we can help it!

Also, I am incredibly pleased that we now have free period products available across the UEA health schools, because as we all know, things aren’t always that predictable!

🌿 Setting Expectations 🌿

Some realistic chats about post natal rehab and whilst this exercise looks simple … if you’ve had a C-Section it’s likely it’ll take time to get back to!

Setting expectations and realistic short term goals is a huge part to Mummy MOT programmes…. Just as some insight this took me nearly a year post natal before I managed this much of an extension based stretch.

So be kind to yourself… time is the best healer ♥️ and whilst there is plenty you can do to help, you can’t rush time, just know it will get easier….

I’m sure many can relate…. 😳👍

Poor sleep, changes to diet (often not for the better or just forgetting!), hormones and mental and physical changes and recovery.

Mums are all too often overlooked post natally and every mums story is different, every mums journey and advice is different.

Some just want the reassurance and 👍 to know yep just keep going… others need that support face to face or even just a phone call.

There are many services available for mums, so here at The M Word Physio our Mummy MOT packs not only have your personalised report, some general tips and tricks with some lovely discounts 🙌🏼 but also contain some wonderful local wellbeing support and charity groups that may be of help along the way…

👋🏼 a little hello to all of my new followers

It’s been a busy few weeks but some exciting changes coming up and I am looking forward to potentially meeting some of you at if you want to pop along to discuss everything post natal and those Mummy MOT checks.

I am also delighted to announce that I will soon be working at University of East Anglia as a lecturer across the health sciences degrees. I’ve specialised now for a long time in musculoskeletal conditions and more of late in women’s health so it’s going to be great to have this opportunity to support the future of our healthcare!

I am keeping my private clinics and Pilates classes available for all those women’s health and musculoskeletal needs … so please don’t panic! 🥰

Keep well everyone and thank you for all the ongoing support!

A little picture repost from check it out!! 🙌🏼🙌🏼

Ladies …..

Know your pelvic floor and understand it!

Here at The M Word Physio I’ve had a few questions lately about pelvic floor dysfunction.

And yes, if your pelvic floor is tight … it won’t work optimally and associated symptoms are possible. If your pelvic floor is weak, it won’t work optimally and symptoms are possible. Both are treated very differently!

You may not have symptoms after having a little one (which is great!) however …. Prevention is ALWAYS better than cure.

Carrying a baby for 9 months, vaginal delivery, trauma or c section can all in themselves affect your pelvic floor.

So please, know your pelvic floor, exercise it, stretch it, as you would any other muscle. Rehab it and Look after it…. It’ll thank you later….

And if you need guidance or advice for it, come along to a Mummy MOT. All of our assessments are completely tailored to you and your symptoms. 🥰

✨ A little appreciation post for and her beautiful work. ✨

👟 Life as a physio is spent in trainers and tracksuits…

🪵 Life as a mum is spent being covered in weetabix, paint or mud and unbrushed hair …

🐾 If you are anything like me, my phone is 80% photos of my husband and son, 15% dog, 5% ones of me and my son in our usual outdoors, muddy selves at awful angles (not so glamorous!)

💕 And sometimes I miss that little bit of glamour I once had! And it’s good to rekindle that sometimes…

This collaboration was really special, a little step out from physio, the paint, the mud and Rebecca captured a precious moment between my just me and my son.

It’s one I will cherish always.

Mums, don’t forget to put yourself the other side of the camera, and don’t miss these moments, they go by so quick ❤️

We’ve had a few peri/post Menopause clients lately….

Peri menopause is ‘normal’ to start from the age of 35.

The sudden drop/altering levels of hormones can really affect your muscle mass and bone health. So a combination of cardio and strength work is really important.

Pelvic floor issues are common so please don’t ignore it, ‘nip in it the butt’ so to speak as there is so much you can do to help yourself.

Great sleep habits are so important! Not sleeping well and feeling more anxiety/stress/tiredness will ramp up your inflammatory system and extra tiredness really won’t help that brain fog. Which is a thing - your hormones have an effect to the neurotransmitters in your brain…. You’re not going mad! Trust me!

Our assessments are completely bespoke. What ever symptoms you experience more, want to know more about or want a plan to prevent problems …. We’re here to help.

Being a fellow health professional we highly recommend , Menopause Specialist Nurse who also works from .

Let’s talk…. L**e!

If painful/uncomfortable s*x is a problem, or if you’re post natal and feeling a bit unsure about having s*x. Lubricant can be a great help … and benefit!

I am a great supporter of with their wonderful water and oil based lubricants.

Wondering which one? 🤷🏻‍♀️

- Water based or oil based good for post natal
- Oil based ideal around menopause, sometimes vaginal dryness can absorb the water based lubricants much quicker than oil based 🙌🏼

The benefits of using lubricant ⬇️⬇️⬇️

❤️ Dual purpose intimate lubricant and massage oil
❤️Safe for use with silicone toys
❤️Hypoallergenic: formulated to minimise the risk of allergies
❤️Richly nourishing, providing soothing relief
❤️Gynaecologist recommended
❤️Sperm Friendly – tests show no negative effects on s***m motility
❤️Imparts lavish and lasting lubrication
❤️Ideal for water play
❤️Beneficial for skin, so no need to wash off
❤️100% organic ~ Chemical and preservative free

⭐️ PLUS you can get 10% off with the code THEMWORDPHYSIO if you want to order ⭐️

A little note: painful s*x can be a symptom of many conditions so if unsure please seek medical support from your GP or Womens health physio first 🥰🙌🏼
