"Intersex" refers to individuals born with reproductive or sexual anatomy that doesn't fit typical definitions of male or female. "Asexual" describes someone who does not experience sexual attraction. The "plus" sign at the end of the acronym acknowledges and includes other sexual orientations and gender identities not specifically listed.

What Is Masking?

💬 “I act differently around certain people — is that normal?”

For neurodivergent people (especially those with autism or ADHD), masking means hiding or changing parts of who you are to fit in, avoid judgment, or stay safe.

It can look like:

🎭 Forcing eye contact

🙂 Smiling when overwhelmed

🤐 Hiding stims or fidgeting

🤯 Copying others' social cues

💬 Saying “I’m fine” when you’re not

Masking can help some people get through the day — but whilst you’re not being fake and you may feel like you're adapting to survive, it’s often exhausting.
