The Surgery will be CLOSED for the Bank Holiday on Monday 25th August 2025 .

If you require medical attention, please call the Out of Hours Service on 111.

In the event of a life-threatening Medical Emergency please call 999.

Update on Caister Health Centre

Caister Health Centre will re-open on Monday 16 June to deliver normal practice services.

Investigations of the building found a drainage issue which is thought to have been the source of the challenges we experienced. The drains have now been cleared and we are confident that the premises is safe for our patients and team.

We’d like to thank all our staff and patients for their ongoing support and understanding while we worked to investigate and resolve this issue as quickly as possible and we apologise for any inconvenience this caused.

Update on Caister Health Centre

We are sorry that Caister Health Centre remains closed. Investigations continue into the air quality and the drainage at the site and as soon as these works are concluded, and we are reassured that it is safe to reopen we will. We anticipate that the closure will continue until June 13th, and we will issue a further update if this changes. The safety of our patients and staff is our first priority. We apologise for any inconvenience this temporary closure causes and wish to thank patients for their patience and understanding.

Appointments continue to be carried out at our other sites, primarily Newtown and patients will be informed of where their appointment will take place. In addition to ordering prescriptions via the phone or digitally patients are now able to drop off prescriptions in the post box in the entrance lobby at Caister, and prescription related queries can be discussed with the team by calling us on 01493 745050 and selecting option 4. If you have any other concerns please contact us either on 01493 745050 or via our website (www.enmp.co.uk).

East Norfolk Medical Practice remains committed to delivering GP services in Caister and can confirm this closure is a temporary measure.

Caister Health Centre will remain closed until further notice while the site’s air quality continues to be investigated. This will take some time and it is likely that our premises will remain closed for the next week at least. We are arranging patient appointments to take place at other East Norfolk Medical Practice sites. Wherever possible, and for most appointments, this will be to Newtown Surgery. The transfer of appointments to Newtown Surgery is putting pressure on parking there, so please do allow a little extra time to get to your appointment.

We will continue to contact patients to advise them of the information they require to attend their appointments. We ask that patients order their prescriptions over the phone or via the NHS App. We are sorry for any inconvenience caused by the closure of Caister Health Centre but the safety of our staff and patients remains our priority.

James Paget University Hospital (JPUH) have established a support group for people living with Polymyalgia Rheumatica (PMR) and Giant Cell Arthritis (GCA). They meet quarterly at the Louise Hamilton Centre on the JPUH site, their upcoming meetings are:

Wednesday 10th December 6-8pm

Caister Health Centre (doctor’s surgery) will be closed for the rest of this week.

We apologise for any disruption this causes. Patients with appointments this week will be able to go ahead with those at Newtown Surgery and we hope to reopen next week.

We have had concerns about air quality on the premises and have therefore taken precautionary steps to ensure the safety of our patients and staff whilst we investigate further.
