🤩 1 day left to get your ticket!!

Last weekend I hosted a private event for over 40 women — and it reminded me exactly why Fannies & Flapjacks exists.
These spaces are needed. They’re powerful. And honestly? They’re still far too rare.

I’m tired of how boring, clinical and disconnected most health promotion is, especially when it comes to the stuff we’ve been taught to whisper about.
And I’m really tired of the story that women just need to “try harder”, “do better”, or quietly fix themselves while the system avoids taking responsibility for the gaps in care we live with every day.

Women deserve proper support, real conversations, and healthcare that doesn’t offer crumbs and call it a meal.

That’s what these events are about:
💬 honest conversations
🧠 evidence-based information
🤝 community
🧁 and flapjacks — obviously

If you’ve ever felt dismissed, ignored, or told “that’s just part of being a woman”… this space is for you.

That Stranger Things portal looks suspiciously like a vulva…
which makes it an unreasonably good health metaphor 😂
and a great excuse to talk about those pesky vulval demons.

🔥 Vulval burning is a symptom, not a diagnosis.
It often reflects irritation, inflammation, nerve sensitivity, hormonal change or fragile tissue.

Common causes:
• Low oestrogen (peri/menopause, postnatal, cancer treatment, some contraception)
• Infections — even after they’ve “cleared”
• Nerve sensitisation / vulvodynia
• Chemical irritation from soaps, pads, detergents etc
• Pelvic floor tension
• Skin conditions like lichen sclerosus or eczema

🌸 Localised oestrogen is one of the most effective, lowest-risk treatments when hormones are part of the picture.

It:
• Thickens & strengthens tissue
• Improves blood flow
• Boosts natural lubrication
• Calms sensitive nerves
• Restores the local ecosystem

💬 In plain terms:
Low oestrogen makes vulval tissue thin, dry, fragile and angry.
Local oestrogen helps it become plump, resilient, comfortable and calm again.

Close the portal.
Restore order.
Possibly improve Vecna’s face? 😅

Most women don’t actually want “a new body”.

They want:
• to feel strong
• to trust their body again
• to move without fear
• to stop leaking when they jump
• to still be exercising this time next year

That’s what small group coaching is really about.

Not quick fixes.
Not punishment workouts.
Not starting over every Monday.

It’s about learning how your body works, building strength that supports your life, and creating habits that don’t disappear the moment things get busy.

If you’re ready for training that actually fits your real life then this is your sign 💪

I just wanted to pop on to say how grateful I am for everyone’s understanding and well wishes, and to apologise for any delays in getting back to people.

I was admitted to hospital last week with meningitis! Needless to say, the wheels well and truly fell off. I was pretty unwell, and it was all a bit scary. Initially, I thought I had sepsis from a recurring UTI, but with a pounding headache, major light sensitivity, and deranged liver function, the doctors acted quickly and treated me for meningitis. The consultant wasn’t convinced it was that at first, but after a lumbar puncture test, I proved him wrong! 😅

It’s moments like this that remind me how lucky I am to have such incredible friends, family, and colleagues who stepped up, checked in, and wrapped me in so much support.

While I’m deeply grateful for the care I received, it’s also hard and heartbreaking to see how stretched our NHS has become. The staff were doing their absolute best under such pressure, and constantly apologising for the lack of beds. I spent 14 hours in a recliner having IV antibiotics and fluids before a space became available and I felt awful for older or more vulnerable patients having to wait similar times. It really isn’t great.

Please write to your MP and to share your stories. We should be deeply concerned.

Menopause can shake the very foundations of our wellbeing.
Hot flushes, sleep disruption, and anxiety affect our physiological and safety needs.

When we’re tired, stressed, or unsupported, it’s harder to eat well, move, or rest, not because we don’t care, but because our capacity is low.

That’s why this World Menopause Day, I’m talking about building capacity for positive lifestyle changes: regulating our nervous system, food security, connection to ourselves and others, and practicing compassion.

Small acts like going for a walk, eating enough without guilt, or speaking kindly to yourself are radical acts of self-care and the starting point for change.

My role is to dig a bit deeper, and support you from the inside out as the whole woman you are.

What ways do you build capacity to help with positive lifestyle changes?

I’m very excited to announce that are a supporting sponsor for Fannies & Fizz. A women’s health event that combines girls night out and health promotion to empower women to speak up and seek support for issues that are often not discussed.

As a fellow system shaker I am so pleased they are going to be there and share conversations with our guests. I am so passionate about aligning with brands who care about improving women’s health and they certainly tick all the boxes 😍

Natracare was created as a campaign to shake up the menstrual products industry with real, viable eco-friendly alternatives for periods.

Their mission is to develop period and personal care products that are better for your body and the planet, they even created the world’s first organic cotton tampons and certified compostable pads and panty liners.

They use organic cotton, sustainable wood pulp, and plant starch. They are plastic-free, perfume and dye free, and use a totally chlorine free process.

Better for your body. Better for the planet
